I wanted to update on two issues I have posted recently. If no one else is having either of these problems, then it must be my computer.
The first was bass notes not sounding. This problem was intermittent and occurred after I had made some edits on other instruments in the song. Today, I tried copying the bass part to the melodist track. the glitch is gone. This makes me wonder about file corruption or hard drive issues. It also leads to questions. When I am programming a song and have it open, does BB work off the RAM, the hard drive or both? Has anyone else had this problem?
Re the piano not being on the beat and sounding sloppy, I took Noel's advice and made a hybrid style. Then I saved it to my bb folder which seemed to be the default. Problem is that I can't find it now. It doesn't appear by type or alphabetically. I have looked at the Help but I don't see anything about this. Any ideas out there?
Bass notes not playing after making edits: One fairly common cause is the notes are now out of range for the synth, i.e. the synth bass plays E2 as the lowest note and you now have A1 notes after editing. The synth may have no sound assigned to the note now .. remember, in normal use BiaB tracks share a synth. So transposing and such can affect everything, depending on how it is done.
As for styles not appearing, I'd *guess* it has to do with the new BB Cleanup routine, where it moves things around. Your style may indeed exist but BiaB is not seeing it. Try running the BB\Data\Cleanup app, then do a rebuild of styles .. see if that helps. Just guessing on this one.
Oh, and BiaB uses RAM and HD (both) to generate and work in. When it Generates 'on the fly' it is likely using both the HD and RAM (to buffer) at the same time.
Make your sound your own! .. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
Have a look in \bb\styles and see if the file has been saved there. If it has been saved somewhere else, move it to \bb\styles.
Once that is done, go into Stylepicker and rebuild the style list. Additional styles are generally not picked up automatically so a rebuild is usually required. I apologise for not mentioning this before. It's been a while since I last made some styles and the rebuild didn't occur to me.
One last thing, when I name my styles, I always use the same beginning so that it makes them easy to find in the list of thousands. In my case, I start all my personal styles with N96 - say something like N96Folk.STY. Lastly, unless things have changed, when naming style files I believe that it's necessary to use the 8.3 naming system.
As far as the notes being out of range, I checked that and they are not. But thanks for mentioning it.
I don't know if these thoughts will help but since they just occurred to me, I'll pass them...
1. When in Editable Notation Mode, right-click on the note head, edit the note and check that the velocity value is set to something appreciable (say greater than 80). (See image below.)
2. If I remember correctly, you've been experimenting with midi bass. Just in case I have it wrong, I thought I'd better mention that if it's a Realtrack bass and it's the notation for this that is being changed, the changes will have no impact on what the Realtrack plays (because the RT is audio and not midi).

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
