So Mac made me buy this. And it works, after I chucked the manual and figured out to press 1 or 2 for 2 secs then the patch I wanted, up to 99. However how do I program or make work the expression pedals. I'd really like one for volume and one for sustain. But I do have a sustain pedal, but it makes me buggered up, no room for both.

RTFM, buddy.

It is well worth learning both it and the Ketron stuff, then try programming the pedal such that you can hit one button and instantly recall whatever patch or layered patches you want.

BTW -- selecting Patches "manually" usually results in a slight delay of a couple secs. That is normal when doing it from the panel like that and happens with any controller to synth. But taking the time to program the dedicated user buttons, the Patch Changes can happen *instantaneously* for you. Much better in live performance situation.

Another neat thing, when playing with a band, or by myself, I sometimes like more than one keyboard controller on the rack. It is easily possible to have two keyboards play two different patches on the Ketron by assigning the keyboards to single channel output, each on a different MIDI channel. Matter of fact, you could have up to fifteen keyboards going at once into one MIDI synth like that. But two are enough. One hand on Piano comp, other on an Organ patch, for example. Or strings that play different parts from those Piano+Strings patches. Or have the "Horn Section" on the top keyboard while you have Piano on the bottom. I usually run an 88 key weighted on the bottom and a 61 or 76 key nonweighted with "organ" keys on teh top board.

BTW I don't own one right now. Had one for a short, buddy talked me out of it to take on a tour with him. Might get another, they cheap enough. Or wait for him to return it. Yeah. Right.

Look for a way to assign Continuous Controller value to a pedal and assign the pedal that you want to be Expression as CC11.

I run a paperless office and love having .pdf manuals on the puter.

I keep the .pdf quickstarts and full manuals for the gear I play onstage and in studio right on the desktop of my main music lappy for quick reference. I also copy and paste text to wordpad files stored on the desktop that tell me how to quickly do or redo certain key tasks that may go astray from my aging/ageing memory.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
