OK I know that it is not kosher to submit a couple of song simultaneously, especially by someone like myself whom hasn't been able to listen much the last few weeks, but I think these might be an exception. Believe it or not both of these songs are from the same style, i.e. Kladerman Piano Style! In both songs I deleted the guitar track and the rest is straight from BiaB. I started with Dreaming in Tangerine but I liked the style so much I had to do a more normal song.

The first, Inner Peace, is more like my usual stuff. I am playing the Ocarina via my wind controller.

The second, Dreaming in Tangerine, I copied the piano track 3 times. The first two piano tracks I put on two different arpeggio sound sources. The other two I put on percussion sound sources.

Inner Peace

You are in deep meditation, calmly dreaming about playing your Ocarina by a babbling brook, surrounded with by song birds then you dream you are playing with a large string orchestra.

Dreamin in Tangerine

This song is an experiment in arpeggios that would be similar to those used back in the Tangerine Dream days. I know this is not the genre that many of you either like or are familiar with but back in the day I used to listen to Tangerine Dream a lot and it got me very interested in electronic music.

Mario,

I really enjoyed both of these songs, but I really like what you did with Dreamin in Tangerine - a really great electronic sound.

Excellent stuff!

Thanks Mario! I had that same dream last night, except I was chased into Lake Ontario by an angry crowd of ocarina virtuoso's!

Seriously, great demonstration of the flexibility of BIAB and open-mindedness about what to do with what's there! It's interesting that you started with Tangerine and then went to the tranquility of Inner Peace, kind of like peeling back the skin and getting to the simplistic but lovely structure of the chords and arpeggio's.

Thanks for sharing this!

Very inventive and an interesting exercise. I enjoyed both pieces, the meditative new age and the electronic arpeggios.
Clever work.

Both pieces are very nice, Mario. Enjoyed listening.

You do this kind of thing SO well. You should put a dozen of them together and put a CD out... I think it would really sell well...

Nice work on these, Mario smile While I enjoyed both, I definitely found myself gravitating towards Dreaming in Tangerine more so - Inner Peace is great too, just a preference thing. I'm definitely reminded of something by Tangerine Dream or Brian Eno on this one. I also can imagine this fitting in perfectly as part of a sci-fi movie soundtrack like Bladerunner.

Very unique and very well executed - thank you for sharing!

It is amazing that these are both born from the same style. I never would have guessed that. Your wind controller work is outstanding. Once again you have delivered some New Age compositions that are easy to listen to. I enjoyed them both, Tom

Mario,

Inner Peace is Very soothing...in a Brian Eno, Another Green World way.Have to look up the Ocarina - it has a beautiful sound.
Tangerine has very cool percussive elements... I like the dramatic entry of the bassy sounds. You really absorbed that electronic Tangerine Dream influence.
I really enjoyed both and could see them finding commercial success in soundtracks.

You've further demonstrated the ability of this program to deliver when put in the hands of a skilled operator.

You really managed a fantastic contrast. Credit to you for a great pair of contributions!

I liked them both Mario but the second one has a very cool beat to it. Kind of techno poppy thing going on. Well done

Thanx Bob. Dreamin in Tangerine was an experiment. I find it interesting that a number of people really liked it.

I was a big fan of electronic music back in the days. I still have a lot of vinyl from that era.

Don't you hate those ocarina virtuosos!

My personal belief is that one can do a lot more with BiaB, MIDI and imagination that is commonly believed.

Thanx for those kind comments.

Thanx Deryk.

I'm a big fan of both Tangerine Dream and Brian Eno. Maybe you could put a word in for me and request some MIDI styles based on this genre.

Thanx VT. I believe that with BiaB, MIDI and some imagination you can do lot more with BiaB than some give it credit. Sometimes its Bia, you know thinking out of the box!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
