In fakebooks I am use to seeing a lot of diminished 7th chords. When I enter "D# dim 7" BIAB always takes out the 7th so it appears as "D#dim". I have to assume it is eliminating the 7th. Is it eliminating the 7th? Is there not a way to get it to show the 7th in the chord sheet and also be sure it is including the 7th.
I just tried entering it as "D#d7" and for a moment it actually showed it as it shows in my fake book but in the end it once again made it "D#dim".
I think it is important that BIAB be able to play a triad (3 note chord) or a 7th chord (4 note chord) and thus not show or show the 7th.

With something like this the default is best to be (spell it out fully) and make the short cuts of not having to key in the 7 a checkbox option. Ideally it should be user specific in that they can choose which of the two that the abbreviated version represents.

You’re right, I don’t think there is such a thing as a dim5 chord. I believe that’s only being used to clarify it is a straight/simple diminished triad, as opposed to having the double-flatted seventh included.

I agree. I only said it the way I said it under the possibility that there is such as thing as dim5 representing a triad. To me that idea may have come from a programmer with no musical training.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
