Hi all - just getting back to BIAB - this time with a Mac! So far so good.

On my Windows version(s), I was able to drag BIAB files into my DAW (Studio One, Cakewalk). I'm trying to get some BIAB tracks into a GarageBand project.

I still use Studio One, but I'm liking the Mac version of GB - and maybe see a progression to Logic X at some point. So - trying to establish and stick to one workflow.

Thoughts and ideas? Thank you!

Well, I did some more digging and somehow found the "old" nav menu which had the DAW option I remember. Basically just have to drag it into a render folder before bringing it into GB. Seems to be woking fine. I just need to find or get the current menu option to work correctly.

Onward!

Hey neighbor, another guy from "The Pay State" here.
I drag and drop from BIAB to Logic, Cubase, and GB all the time, it works really well !

As much as I really hate to be one of those "read the manual" guys... blush
(sorry)
... if you search in the manual for "Drag and Drop" (it's on page 281 in the BIAB 2018 manual, I'm not sure which version you are on) they describe it in much better detail than I ever could.

I'm sure it has to be pretty similar to the way the Windows version works, but if there are any Mac specific quirks you will find them in the pdf.

A lot of times I will drag and drop the separate tracks directly to the desktop, then I can decide afterwards which DAW to use them in, I tend to bounce back and forth between Cubase for MIDI and Logic for audio (depending on the weather, and how I feel that day). grin

Hopefully my rambling is of some help to you, if you have any specific issues related to differences in the Mac version let me know and hopefully I can answer them.

- Jay

I usually drag the track names from the top of the window to one of the 4 quadrants in the picture below.
Then with the window either sized down, or in DAW mode I drag from one of these quadrants to my destination.

Sounds good Jay. Being new to Mac, I’m still learning the quirks of how the windows and desktop work. Glad to hear from another New Englander. I actually just downsized to a condo in Cumberland RI and spending less time on house maintenance and more on music.

Hope you’re enjoying the fine run of weather we’ve had

No problemo, man !
If you do have any other Mac specific questions though, feel free to post them here.
There is definitely less traffic over here on the Mac side of the forum, but there are some good knowledgable folks here who are always willing to help, it might just take a bit longer to get an answer sometimes. blush

I'm in Mansfield myself, so I'm right on the R.I. line, I reckon I can still say "neighbor" then. grin

Oh, and welcome to the dark side. smile

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
