Anyone using Loops in their projects, was looking for a wee idea how you use them ?.

1 And how adaptable are they ?,

2 Do they come in all different keys ?.

3 Recommended loops etc.

Any loops that are Acidized will automatically transpose to the key that you set in your software. Most loops these days will be Acidized (or at least offer an Acidized version).

Loops do come in different keys, but, again, if they are Acidized, they will automatically transpose to your selected key when imported. Alternatively, your DAW will allow you to raise or lower the key of each loop.

There are Loop site all over the place. You can find free ones. Google "Music Loops" and you will find hundreds of sites.

There are a few thousand loops in BIAB. You can make your own loops by snipping measures from RealTracks in your DAW.

You can check the Loop song that I posted in the Showcase to see how I put them together
http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=472647&page=1

That one is all loops. I often throw a loop or two into other productions. They are simply pasted in the DAW repeatedly. The was a big part of another song I put in the Showcase recently ("Over My Head").

Doing a little experimentation in your DAW ought to get you going fairly easily...

Well that was something I missed, the sound was brilliant and well produced.

Im not really trying to go that modern just add a wee flavouring, how can I tell if loops are acidized as I have some I bought a while back gorgeous piano is one I bought.

Really appreciate you taking the time to explain this out for me and a big thanks Floyd.

I've been utilizing loops and samples a lot lately in the electronic music I'm doing. It adds a lot of possibilities to what you can do.

One thing to be careful of when choosing loops is to see what you are allowed to use them for. I've seen some that even though you buy them you are not allowed to use them in songs for licensing or that you plan on selling. Most of mine come from Loopmasters and Loopcloud which allow you to do what you want with them. They are one of the biggest loop companies around. Splice is another site that has some great sounds I would like to use but I don't want to pay their monthly fee.

This song was created entirely with loops and samples including the vocals. https://soundcloud.com/user-897611228/down-with-me

I use splice and am happy with that. Good search engine, lots of inspiring sounds, but you don't know if the loop is acidized or not before you try it. Many are NOT.

Sounds.com (Native Instruments) seems to be a good place too, but it has only just opened up for Europeans and I haven't bought any loops from there yet, so I don't know if the loops are acidized.

Which plan do you have with Splice and about how many loops/samples can you get per month?

I'm really interested in the Kashmir set they released last month and it's the only place you can get it.

I get 100 sounds per month for $7.99 - that is more than enough for me.

If I remember correctly I think you get the first month for free, so you could do that to get some of the Kashmir sounds and then just cancel your subscription.

On the other hand - they do have a lot of interesting and inspiring stuff, so maybe you won't cancel... smile

They also have plugins and remix contests, etc.

Edit: I just checked: In October you get a free month if you sign up with the promo code "reverb".

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
