There was request to hear the samplemodeling Trumpet from a prospective EWI/WX5 player on the samplemodeling forum to hear the instrument by itself. Here are the samples all done in a great rush with no adjustments except normalization. My playing skills are not up to most of the contributors of these forums, but I think you will be able to hear the Trumpets very well. All done with EWI-USB with default Wind Controller setting and no changes to any other params in the Trumpet software. It's mostly the main Trumpet with and without mute as well as Trumpet no 2 or 3 (I did not keep track of it). Sample A: http://www.supload.com/listen?s=D2DfbuSample B: http://www.supload.com/listen?s=N55ZMPMore response and plays better than any synth I have ever used. Thanks for listening,

Sounds outstanding to me! Very realistic indeed!! (And the playing wasn't as bad as you make it out to be either, Dan! LOL)

Certainly does a good job emulating the sound of the classical or orchestral trumpet.
I have a feeling that was the target here. It does a fair job on the swing stuff, if you are into orchestral trumpet players playin' swing stuff. A bit too pure for that, I think.
Try to avoid gettin' on the breath swells so much.
Ome dead giveaway that only trumpeters will hear is that low C, which is the D on the Bb trumpet. It is dead on the tempered scale here, something we all wish would actually happen on the trumpet that the design really doesn't allow, even if we throw the third or first valve slide out. Not a kill here.

Not sure that it's orchestral, but does lean toward classical tone. The muted section sounds likd a Harmon mute to me rather than a cup mute. Mac is right about low D and C#, but I like having it in tune rather than being off. FWIW

Hey Dan,
Good job. I've been on the fence about either the "Trumpet", or Wallender WIVI, and now the new "Mojo" from Big Fish. I do like your demo. Sounds like the EWI USB is working well for you. I have a few questions about using it, because I've been struggling to get it working>
1. I can't seem to get the rollers working correctly. What have you done do get this technique down?
2. What settings do you use in Aria player as far as Key Delay, Breath control, etc.
3. Have you been able to get this working as a valid input in BIAB? PC or MAC?
4. Any other tips or tricks I should be using to make the EWI USB work better?
I actually liked the Akai EVI 1000, it was VERY easy to play and finger. Not so with the EWI USB!
Thanks so much, Ed

Hi Dan, Thanks for posting. Nicely done. I have "Mr Sax T" & will soon be getting "Mr A" & "Mr B" along with "The Trumpet".
Best of luck with it.

I wonder if you can detune the D in the patch. I didn't even notice it until you guys pointed it out.

Thanks Noel. I listened some of your original songs and liked them very much - very pleasant singing voice.

Ed,
Thanks for taking the time to listen. I posted it because there is no demo version of the samplemodeling, and it is sometimes hard to judge from the demos that manufacturer put out there. I'm not familiar with the Wallender WIVI or Mojo, but I will check them out.
1. I can't seem to get the rollers working correctly. What have you done do get this technique down?
As a matter of fact, I very much dislike the construction of the octave keys. Compared to the EWI-4000s and the old 3020 it's terrible. Specifically the walls at the top and bottom end of the octave wells do not allow your fingers to properly access the outermost rollers. No such problem with the aforementioned older models (which have 8 rollers). Other than the cramped space on the EWI-USB I don't have any problems. It helps to exert more pressure on the octave keys.
2. What settings do you use in Aria player as far as Key Delay, Breath control, etc.
I use the default settings shown in the manual. However, I can't get really nice legato with any of the Aria soundpatches even with the legato button enabled. So, although the Aria/Garritan sounds are great in demos done mostly with notation programs, I don't get the same overall sound quality with live wind controller playing the Aria sounds.
3. Have you been able to get this working as a valid input in BIAB? PC or MAC? I have not tried, since a year or two ago with Kontakt2 player which sometimes caused configuration screwups, although others on these forums have had more success.
4. Any other tips or tricks I should be using to make the EWI USB work better? Until recently (about 1 week?) when I got the samplemodeling Trumpet (sTrumpet)I had not used the EWI-USB as much as my EWI-3020 or the EWI-4000s. The EWI-USB worked far better immediately with the sTrumpet, so I have not yet gone back to the 4000s or 3020 to tweak the settings. I'm afraid I don't have any special or useful advice in general. However, if you tell me what specifically you find to be a problem I will try to help.
I actually liked the Akai EVI 1000, it was VERY easy to play and finger. Not so with the EWI USB!
Isn't that a wind controller built for trumpet fingering? Are you doing the special valve fingering on the EWI-USB? I'm not a trumpet player so I have not tried it.

Thanks,
I also got the Sax Bros at the same time as the Trumpet, but I haven't been able to get really good sounds from the Saxes in the 20 minutes I messed with them. I was so amazed with how good the Trumpet was, that I haven't had time to mess with the Saxes.
What wind controller do you use and do you have any tips on tweaking Mr Sax software?
Dan

I play Synthophone. (www.Synthophone.info) It plays best in "BreathController" mode. I haven't been able to play it @ 88.1. I play at 44 or 48. AT set to growl.
Best thing is to play around with it & see what works for what you want.

That's sound advice for *anything* MIDI.
Play around with it, find out what it does well and emphasize that.
Also find out what it *doesn't* do so well, and develop the habit of never going for that...

Hi Dan,

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
