Hi,
Is it necessary to use a breath controller in conjunction with a keyboard or other midi instrument or can we:
- listen to a midi track (1) music played in a DAW
- simultaneously "sing" inside a breath controller the same music with all the necessary feelings and effects possible,
this "song" beeing recorded in another DAW midi track (2) in the form of CC commands
- apply to track (1) the effects of track (2) producing in a new track (3) the humanized version of track (1) ?

Has someone experience on this ?

Thanks in advance

I'm only good for a bump for you but....

I believe one of our very frequent posters here named "MarioD" has a wind/breathe controller and he may be able to assist in your quest.
Watch for him as you peruse the forums.....all are pretty helpful here.

I've used a breath controller, I don't think it works like you are explaining as best as I can understand your needs. A breath controller triggers a midi synth or module to play a specific patch or sound. The breath controller allows inflections, intonations and expression similar to what you would get playing a woodwind or brass instrument. Specific "tonguing", slurs, volume changes, stacattos etc. can be emulated with a breath controller.

If I misunderstood your question, perhaps another member will help clarify.

What Mario has, and what I have and Notes Norton has, is a wind controller. This is an electronic wind instrument that plays MIDI and is fingered like a sax. Mine is a Yamaha WX5. Notes has this, and another brand is Akai.

But I think what you are asking about is more like a Vocoder, a keyboard with a microphone that allows you to put nuances to the notes that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. Herbie Hancock used one, for example.

Is that correct? I think Jeff is describing what I would call a breath controller.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
