Hi,

Is there any way to set "Shot" in the 1st chorus and "No-rest" in the following choruses at the same bar? For example, in a 12-bar blues song, I want to configure a "shot" at the 12th bar, where the theme melody ends and solo will start (so called break-in), and "No-rest" at the same 12th bar in the 2nd, 3rd and following choruses for a long solo play.

Thank you.

Hi Atushi,

The easiest way to do this is to unfold the song into a single long chorus rather than having three repeats. "One big chorus" means that the song plays from beginning to end without repeats. This is how I always use BIAB because it gives me full control over every bar in the song. The command is found under...

"Edit | Song Form | Unfold (convert to 1 BIG chorus)"

If you have a look at the following video of one of my songs, you'll see what I mean. It's a video of BIAB playing the song's chord sheet.

Lastly, to get the same effect as the 3 x Choruses, you'll need to make sure that the middle section has green part markers.

Regards,
Noel

Hi all,

Thank you for your great suggestions. Now I understand that there is no other way than unfolding choruses into a single long one.
Thank you. Very helpful.

Another way to do this:
Make the 12 bars with the shot bars 1 to 12.
Make 12 bars without the shot bars 13 to 24.
(You can copy & paste bars 1 to 11 to bar 13)

Set bars 13 to 24 as the chorus to repeat x times.

If you want anything after that, it will be a Tag starting at bar 25 after bar 24.

If you also want a shot on the last chorus, set the Tag to start at bar 25
after bar 23 of the last chorus, and make bar 25 the shot and then
bar 26 starts any additional material.

This is very cleaver and typical for BIAB to have ways of getting it done. In this manner the first 12 bars are actually the "intro", then the chorus is repeated on the subsequent bars for x times.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
