Hi, I made a song called The Clock. It deals with our relation with our earth. I made several songs of this topic, because it's concerning me and a lot of other people. A while ago I posted another song on this forum about the same topic: Change the road. The message looks a bit the same, but from another angle. The lyrics were from last year, but I updated them. The same with the melody. The style is called Novel, but I changed some instruments in it. along with the conga's I used a Japanese snare-instrument, the Koto and a House-Techno-Trance loop that symbolises the ticking of the clock. I hope you enjoy the song. https://soundcloud.com/user-296497130/the-clockHans Berkhout The lyrics: The Clock (c)HWBerkhout, 2019 I believed in politics It made all work well I listened to government but their lies are packed so swell I never listen to people living in great wealth They won't care for our environment At least, that's how I felt I trusted people who know the state of our earth But their promise to fight pollution Is now covered in dirt Many politicians speak words that makes me sad Why believe the United Nations? While their lack of actions feel so bad Chorus No, don't wait until tomorrow To see who saw the light All words sound so hollow And we can't sleep during the night No, don't wait until tomorrow But start doing what we must If you feel your head's blown keep faith in what you trust like me I like to listen to people Who are able to give us hope Let's start by join their movement So we can do what others won't No, don't wait until tomorrow To see who saw the Light Of course there will be sorrow But in the end we win this fight No don't wait until tomorrow Just think of what to achieve Let words don't sound hollow and keep strong in that believe No, don't wait until tomorrow but join those who try Those words will gain the power where politicians stop to lie Getting stronger by the hour brings nature back on it's feet So listen and shout it out loud Indifference we'll beat! 'cause listen, listen and hear, the clock ticks...

Hi Hans, Very nice song with an important message. I really like when lyrics has a message to the world... something to think about. Unfortunately I don't think the world leaders will be listening, but maybe we - the insignificant people of the world - can spread the message through music. Thanks a lot for sharing! Will

Hi Will,
Thanks for your compliments. And yes I know it won't be easy to convince politicians. I once was one! But stop trying makes it worse. Repeating the message will work (I hope)and music is the best carriage.
Hans

Hi Ember, thanks again for your compliments. Have you found any mistakes in the lyrics?

Wow - really well done, Hans A really well written tune, and a great message. I thought the lyrics and your vocals fit perfectly with the backing tracks. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Hans ...
I really like this! Your vocal is great and the backing tracks are stellar. I like the quiet acoustic guitar breaks. Great message that the world leaders will certainly put a deaf ear to. Excellent song and delivery! Best to you ...

A written a good hopeful protest song... I enjoyed the listen. Ps: Jim, what is the meaning of those signs under you name? I can think of Religious, but mainy for the sake of Peace and Love. Is that correct?
They can be whatever you want, but I think your guess is pretty close. BTW... I've got protest song similar to this one... It also has clock ticks ... But I would say it is in a darker vein... Not quite so hopeful... Perhaps someday I will share it.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your -kind of- explanation of those signs. But to be honest, it was not that difficult to quess. They were pretty clear, but I thought/hoped there was a deeper meaning hidden in it. Is there? Maybe that darker vein?
And what a coincidence you als have a same sort of Clock-song: But I can tell you I'm not that naive as it sounds in my song. In a way I did it to support my oldest son. For some months now he became councilor in our city for the Greens. And they want to believe these kind of messages can help. And sometimes they do, in our country and some other European countries it is happening a bit. But I bet he hasn't heard my song. I think I will use your signs for myself...(sigh...)
Jim, can't you post your darker Clockwork-song? Maybe we can mix dark and hope?
Hans

Hans We all have to hope, even if its mixed with some pessimism... Songs & protests, at the least, sheds light on the problems & injustices in this world... Feel free to use the signs... Sometimes its nice to be able to say something without saying anything...

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
