I was talking music with one a the guys at work. We were talking about adding harmonies to a mix. He said he had the Waves Ultrapitch 6 plugin - but had never used it. I sent him a file which he ran through it and sent it back. I added it to a mix I had been working on in the chorus. Probably sounds as good as any of the plugins - not sure how much he fiddled with the parameters. I think I will take the advise of others here and go back eventually and use them as a guide to record real vox.

Here's the mix http://soundclick.com/share?songid=8664326

Now for the guitar players - I was on the Waves web site reading the manual for Ultrapitch and ran across a pretty good offer. They are are allowing downloads with a 1 year free serial for GTR -Solo. I usually just play acoustic stuff - but this has some pretty nice sounds. It is a amp and stomp box simulator. I haven't ever used any software like this - and I think it is cool. I went through some of the presets last night and was driving my wife crazy.

Here is the link for any one interested http://www.wavesgtr.com/html/product_gtr_solo.html

Nice tune, buddy!

One thing to lose immediately is the reverb on the drums. I also think that the overall instrumental mix is just not keeping a good balance between vocals and the backing track.

Love he tune. though. The vocals and reverb of the drum track is just too over-powering for me.

Good try, though. I might be proven wrong by some others. But, it's just my opinion.

Mike,

Thanks for pointing out the drums - I am not real sure how I missed that - had it going to the wrong bus. Already made that change - does make a difference to me.

VERY nice track! Those vocal harmonies are barely distinguishable (presumably that is what you used the UltraPitch for?) but are just what is needed Reminiscent of Roger Whittaker

Where are the lyrics though?

powderman,
I must say, that was a good song for your voice and style! Highly listenable!

I was particularly interested in the background fiddle... I don't recognize that as a real track... was that played live? The fiddling style gave the song a JPCormier feel, and I liked it a lot.

Don't you love having a job where you can talk music with your friends? I've had jobs where there were other who play and record music, and also jobs where nobody else does. The jobs where you can talk music are better.

Pat,

That was realtracks for the fiddle. Used a few different variations and pieced together. The young man who helped is one of my blasters in the powder business. He doesn't know it - but I have chosen him to be my replacement if I ever decide to retire.

WeinSam - thanks for the comments - when I get a minute - I guess I should post lyrics.

All of the above Powderman. Reading the lyrics would have been a bonus for these beat-up ears of mine even though your voice comes through just fine most of the time.
I really liked it - you've got such a great mellow voice.

Ian,

' been out a town for a few days - thanks for listening. I got two comments about lyrics - so I guess I had better start doing that.

Take Care

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
