Hi all, Here's a french song called " This is the dead end " Philippe Janin has written the lyrics and he sings. https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/cest-limpasseHere's an approximate translation : The last time we came Walk the beautiful land There were still some unknowns And some mysteries We crossed all the trails Follow in the footsteps of our fathers Marked on the ground our benchmarks Until you no longer distrust it It's a wasted future That we left behind We said: "Good for us" Sure we didn’t see That one day it would be too late If everything breaks down The last time we came Walk the beautiful land There were still some unknowns And some mysteries We crossed all the trails Follow in the footsteps of our fathers Marked on the ground our benchmarks Until you no longer distrust it The last time we came Walk the beautiful land We didn't really plan Where would our misery come from We hadn't learned anything from yesterday Nothing that keeps us going The past was the past We were arrogant and proud It's a degraded future That we scratched on the walls This is the dead end "Good for us" Sure we hadn't seen That one day we would be lost If everything breaks down RD SpoonsTradHornpipe RD NashvilleCrossoverSwing16^6 RT 1411 Acoustic Bass RT 1412 Acoustic Guitar RT 2675 Acoustic Guitar RT 1420 Banjo RT 570 Slide Guitar RT 3270 Cello RT 1158 Electric Guitar RT 1060 Piano RT 1374 Trombone

Chris37, I'll have to admit I didn't expect a French language song with banjo. Pretty cool!

The spoons work really well with the slide - who'd have guessed. Phillipe manages to avoid room sound in his recordings and that means he fits smoothly into the mix. The SLUSH trombone sounds cool too. A very nice musical melange that runs counter & cleverly to the despairing narrative. Excellent.

Hi Chris,
La chanson donne une sensation de gaieté en conduisant à travers le paysage (avec un verre de vin). Meaning: The song gives a feeling of cheerfulness while driving through the landscape (with a glass of wine). This is translated by Google, my French is more like 'papa fume une pipe' or 'quelle heure est il?'. But with the first French words I want to tell you I liked the song because of the feeling it gives. And we drove a lot through France! But to me you made it a country song, with the banjo and the pedal steel. That fits with my desciption above, but is also a bit unusual for a French song. That's very good. I have one tiny remark: I would have liked a more distinctive chorus in the song. Something you can sing out loud, while driving and after that glass of wine ;-)
Hans

That was an enjoyable jaunt. Loved the expression in the vocals. The trombone was especially neat, as was the slide guitar making comments in the background.

Hi Chris,
You and Philippe have done a great job. I love the backing that you've created and Phillipe's singing is really comfortable to listen to.
All the best, Noel

Ray said it well: "A very nice musical melange that runs counter & cleverly to the despairing narrative."
Great description of what we heard.
The vocal is very good as is the mix and the cool selection of tracks (love the trombone).
Enjoyed it!

Thanks Peter, Rob, David, Noel, Janice and Bud. What is great with the realtracks is trying to mix different styles and sometimes, the result is surprising but interesting. Christian

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
