A tune I composed a few years ago. The story behind it is a bit long, but funny at the end of it. If enough people ask I might tell it. LOL.

Anyhoo, couldn't resist digging it up again and using my Roland FR-4.X.

Style is _OLDWLD2.STY (Old World w/ Plus Accordion)

RealTracks in song: ~1618:Tuba, DixielandFast Sw 165
RealTracks in song: 2560:Accordion, Rhythm OldWorld2Beat Ev16 140
RealTracks in style: 2562:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm OldWorld2Beat Ev16 140

RealTracks in song: 2561:Accordion, Rhythm OldWorld2BeatHeldPlus Ev16 140

RealDrums [in Song:SpoonsTradPolka: a: Spoons b: SpoonsTradPolka

Enjoy !!

Grham,
this is quite bright and loud. Did you "master" it?
Lovely tune - full of fun & the tuba makes it even more so.

Cheers

Hi Ray, thanks for the comment, yes I mastered it myself but I was lazy & just used the backing track I have for playing out live as the Roland DOES need to have its MP3 utility on the loud side.

Nicely done - as Rayc said, it's delightfully bright and energetic and it makes for a really fun listen. Really vivacious, and the instrumentation choice is perfect. The tuba caught me off guard but fits in the mix really well.

Thanks for sharing smile

All polkas are "tongue-in-cheek" to my ears, but that's the fun of it. This sounds great in stereo on the phones. The groove is infectious (as it dang well ought to be with a polka, I reckon). I adore the tuba holding up the bottom. I'd be scared to say what inspired the tune, but the inspiration in my imagination is plenty funny enough. I very much enjoyed this.

Thanks Deryk, I love polkas and really must get round to doing a few more. The tube is fabulous for this as is the Jaw harp. In Scotland we call it the Jews harp. Still goes great with faster tunes.

Wow. Very cool, Graham! I'm with Tangmo on the tongue-in=cheek ears for polkas, but this one is VERY catchy. That tuba makes it.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks a million, I love experimenting with sounds and polkas are just so much fun to play. I'm certainly going to work on my polka compositions. I might diverse a bit though and move onto others styles, as biab has so darned much to offer, I never get round to hearing the new styles each year as I'm so busy playing around with my favourites.

Dear 'furry'...

Well, that was a lot of fun to listen to smile !!! I wasn't aware that BIAB offered that style.

As a child I lived in a predominately Polish neighborhood on the South side of Chicago and was a member of a Catholic church there. I attended a lot of events -- weddings, birthdays, graduation parties and so on -- in which polkas of a most rousing and exuberant nature were performed, sometimes by live bands, and recordings at other times. Watching people dance to the music of polkas was one of the most exhilarating sights I ever witnessed!

Thank you for summoning those exciting, joyful memories through your lively composition, Sister Gordy's Polka smile.

Sincerely,

LOREN (a.k.a. 'bluage')

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
