Don't Come Knockin' - V2

I posted the original version of this several years ago. It's from the folder that got fried in an old computer issue, thus I don't have a list of the RTs. All backing tracks are RTs from BIAB 2012. I'm doing the vocal and lead guitar. I simply "massaged' the original stereo mix-down in Audacity. The biggest remaining issue, i think, is the right channel could be a little louder. And, perhaps, the vocal is a little too hot in the mix.

In case you're wondering about re-posting more of Di's earlier recordings, most of them were recorded using different music - generating software, thus shouldn't be posted on this forum. However, there are 2 or 3 more BIAB cuts I'll post after this one runs its course.

Thanks in advance. My time here for the next week or two will be spotty as our daughter is having an unexpected and very dangerous emergency surgery this Monday. And, because of the virus issue, she can't have visitors before, during or after the surgery ... not even immediate family.

Be safe, everyone ...

Alan

Don't Come Knockin'

(v1)
Hope you're proud of your cheatin' self
Cuz I'm taking you off the shelf
Sending you on down the road
Your childish game is just too old
All you have to offer m
Is your infidelity
You've left me feeling empty and so cold

CHORUS
Don't come knockin' on my front door
I ain't got nothin' for you no more
I've grown tired of all your alibis
And don't come knockin' at my back door
Things ain't the way they were before
I'm fed up with all your cheatin' lies

(v2)
I gave you everything
My heart, my soul and all that bling
But I guess that ain't enough
My love - my dreams - and all that stuff
Cuz you had to cross the line
I guess you thought that I was blind
But Honey I saw every thing
Guess I saw too much

CHORUS
Don't come knockin' on my front door
I ain't got nothin' for you no more
I've grown tired of all your alibis
And don't come knockin' at my back door
Things ain't the way they were before
I'm fed up with all your cheatin' lies

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

(v3)
Hope you find what turns you on
Cuz honey what we had is gone
I can't let you hang around
To build me up then bring me down
Don't come runnin' back to me
I'm through with you just let me be
That string around my finger just came unwound

CHORUS
Don't come knockin' on my front door
I ain't got nothin' for you no more
I've grown tired of all your alibis
And don't come knockin' at my back door
Things ain't the way they were before
I'm fed up with all your cheatin' lies

CHORUS
Don't come knockin' on my front door
I ain't got nothin' for you no more
I've grown tired of all your alibis
And don't come knockin' at my back door
Things ain't the way they were before
I'm fed up with all your cheatin' lies

TAG
Don’t you even come knockin’

Really enjoyed this, Alan. The guitar and voice sound great. Very catchy chorus.

OMG, man. That is so hard having your daughter in surgery without loved ones there. Stay well, all of you.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Alan,

What a great Pop Rock feel this has!

The combination of drums/bass/rhythm guitar drives it right into your head. Great opening (wish you had the RT list - would like to know what that was...)

Cool song.

Smokin' leads!

Really enjoyed this.

Thanks, Marty. Glad you enjoyed it! And yeah, our daughter is real shook up about all of it. She's 51 years old but doesn't deal with these things very good. My wife and I are concerned, but we're positive people.

Take care and be safe ...

Hi Floyd ...

many thanks! the idea with the "massaging" was to give it a little more drive. I'm real happy it came across that way. when I get some time, I'll see if I can find what those RTs were ... just a matter of trial and error! AT least I can narrow it down to RTs from versions 11, 11.5, 12 or 12.5 ... that's a start!

You and yours be safe ...

Alan

Hi Alan,

I was hoping you were going to post more of these gems, so thanks for that!

Great song, I especially like the chorus and that smoking guitar solo.

Sorry to read about your daughter, hopefully it works out well for her frown

Hello Dave ...

Many, many thanks for all that! I hope to post a new one or two soon, but have a few more of these from the bottom of the proverbial barrel. I can no longer play anywhere close to that. Focal Dystonia has rendered my left hand very compromised. But that's okay ... music has been very, very good to me for a lot of years.

Wishing you the best and Please be safe ...

Alan

Yes, I can relate to a certain extent. I’ve been struggling with arthritis in both hands here for the last 10 years or so. I play with pain, not a problem with rhythm so far, but very much so with leads. It has really slowed me down a lot, so I try and concentrate instead in playing slower, more melodic lines.

Getting old ... not for the faint hearted!

Best to you and yours always, you are the real deal in my book.

Hi Dave ...

My issue isn't pain. It's sorta the opposite. I have virtually no feeling my pinkie finger, less than 40% sensation in my ring and middle fingers, and somewhat reduced sensation in my index finger and thumb. I've always used my little/pinkie finger more than most guitarist. Everything I do now is from muscle memory in my fingers. I have to practice a song over and over to get that muscle memory ... as I cannot appreciably feel my my fingers on the strings except for my index finger and thumb.

At 73 years old, I am fortunate to have no arthritis or any typical body pain unless I do something stupid. I'm just dealing with the inability to play with little sense of tactile sensation. Nonetheless, i still pratice an hour or two almost every day.

Take care, my friend ... and keep playing. You play some my fine blues!

Alan

Hello Greg!

I appreciate your time to listen and comments so nicely! I worked the drums over and over to get that heavy sound. i think I finally got it where I wanted it. As far as the lead guitar ... that was me, not Brent. But Brent has become my "go to" guy most of the time since a health issue has compromised my ability to play guitar as I once did. But that's all cool. I had more than my allotted time in the spotlight over the years. No complaints. Life has been good in spite of the various issues.

Take and be safe ...

Alan

Al,
An excellent write with a very catchy chorus - hit material from a simpler era, that`s singalong good today. Well sung and nicely produced.

Really fine write and production Al.

Nothing like a good ole cheatin' song. The dearth of them
nowadays makes one think there's no cheatin' going on. Nah!

Excellent guitar and vocal also.

Strong stuff here!

Alan,
Amazing write! Your arrangement is simply stunning. I think what makes any music good is the amount of heart you put into it. This rocks and lifts mood from the first seconds. Good one, Alan! Enjoyed it very much. Thank you for sharing.

Alan,

Very catchy sound!
Your vocals and guitars are so fine.
Your instrumental works are wonderful, but the vocal works are even more wonderful.
The chord progression is simple for you, but very nice.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Excellent.

Hope things go well for your daughter.

Best regards.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
