One more (perhaps last! hopefully, haha ...), this weekend. Hope you enjoy :-) Thanks for taking the time to listen and for any feedback!!!

TRUTH, LOVE, PEACE

When I was young,
My Mama said to me
"My dearest child, you won't go wrong
If this advice you'll heed ...

Make Truth, Love, Peace,
Your Holy Trinity;
And ever happy you'll be!
So come and sing with me:

Truth, Love, Peace.
Is it too much to ask?
Truth, Love, Peace ...
I'll sing from dawn to dusk.

Truth, Love, Peace ...
Is it too much to wish for?
Truth, Love, Peace, please ...-
And let our spirits soar."

***

My Mama's older now
And long since I've not seen
Her wrinkled face; her gentle words
Are with me, inside, still ...

"Please, child, trust me;
You never will go wrong
If Truth, Love, Peace
Is your life's powerful song!"

Truth, Love, Peace.
Is it too much to ask?
Truth, Love, Peace ...
I'll sing from dawn to dusk.

Truth, Love, Peace ...
Is it too much to wish for?
Truth, Love, Peace, please ...-
And let our spirits soar.

***

My Mama's waiting for me now,
To visit her again;
In these tough times, she's wondering
How, lately, I have been.

I miss her so, just one more hug
I want to her to give;
And let her know I've always tried
To practice what we've preached:

Truth, Love, Peace.
Is it too much to ask?
Truth, Love, Peace ...
I'll sing from dawn to dusk.

Truth, Love, Peace ...
Is it too much to wish for?
Truth, Love, Peace, please ...-
And let our spirits soar.

James,

I liked this—a nice marriage of sentiment with a bouncy and fun sound and melody. Like the choice of sax solo, though I might think about dropping the sax after the solo in that last verse—it diverts a little bit from the lead vocal and melody. But definitely pick it back up after that last verse as you do. I also might up the drums a little bit maybe, but let’s see what others think; in particular, if you could really accentuate the snare or kick on those stops, that might lend some defined emphasis in those spots.

Good one! Stay well and safe,

Deej

Uh-oh, Deej ... you've hit on my weak spot here, haha ... mixing. BUT: I will indeed have a look at this again - after I take a small break, I've worked for hours on this song and if I hear that chorus again in the next couple of hours or so, I will throw the computer out of the window (figuratively speaking, of course - if nothing else, it's too heavy to carry to said window). But, to be serious, yes - I see your point ... I was agonising on that sax solo, too ... to see if I'd let it continue or not. In the end, I did and just amplified the vocals a tad more than usual where it runs - but I agree, it can definitely do with one more look at it. The drums, those should be easy to up a bit, especially on the stops, right?

It's time for a quick afternoon nap here, but - after that - I will go back to the mental as well as physical "lab", so to speak, and see what I can concoct, haha. THANK YOU for such a clear, detailed comment - stay well!!!

James,

Nice to hear an upbeat song from you. It moves nicely.

Deej's comment about the sax is a worth pursuing.

If you could roll a little bass off the vocal it would match the backing better.

Catchy. Keep that up...

Thanks fj - I did think that an upbeat song was long overdue, haha ...

Yes, I'll deal with the rogue sax solo soon after I nap ... you know how it is straight after writing a song, right? Or maybe that's just me, haha ... ;-)

Never thought of reducing the bass a little in the vocal, but that's one of the reasons I post stuff on here ... it's great to have other wonderful pairs of ears listening, they thankfully pick up on things one doesn't always hear, oneself.

THANKS for taking the time to listen and help out!!! :-)

Very cool song. Loved the backtrack. Has a cool rhythm to it. Vocal and lyric work well with it

This sound pretty good James. I agree about the sax and EQing your vocal some. I did like the groove and I thought your vocal fit it perfectly.

"Truth, Love, Peace.

Truth, Love, Peace ...

No it's not too much to ask for at all.
But I wish asking was all it took instead of the
needed mammoth changes in behavior and thought around the world.

Thought provoking and nicely done!

Janice and Bud ... when I was younger, there seemed to be a lot more Truth, Love and Peace around. Maybe my memory is seen through the prism of wishful thinking, who knows ... but my point is this: if it got bad this quickly, it can become good again just as quickly. Here's hoping, anyhow! :-)

THANK YOU for listening and for such nice words!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
