Amazing command of pitch! Love the harmony overdubs!
I guess he doesn't gig a lot in Autumn...

But he will never own a vintage instrument as they will just fade and crumble away. Or wait, maybe vintage is measures in days with his axe?

Later.

Long ago I went to a cultural festival of a people from Southeast Asia. Could have been Hmong, but I disremember just now. One of the demos was of leaf playing. Different technique from what is shown here. It seems the five "tones" of their language correspond to notes of a pentatonic scale. They can use they notes to convey words.

Romantic stories are told of young men serenading young women at night with just a leaf. Because of the correspondence between notes and words, the music is actually a conversation!

The leaf-playing developed into free-reed instruments such as sheng and sho, similar to our harmonica.

While I find the performances stunning, and the technique interesting, it doesn't really surprise me that it's possible.

As my tag line says, music touches anyone, and anyone can touch music. The HOW of touching it, or bringing it to others may vary, but music truly is our universal language. His ability is awesome, but no more so than some of the fantastic musicians I've heard from within this forum, playing their chosen instrument.

It looked kinda like a maple leaf. You Canadians have it made. You can now play on your nations emblem with real pride. <---"Oh brother. I'll just pretend he didn't say that"

I wonder how a 5 piece leaf band would sound? It raised the hair on my neck when he did the duet with himself. That was awesome.

It's actually not that hard to do.
Playing as well as he does, takes some practice!
If you find a nice leaf, give it a shot. You'll be surprised.

Actually the instrument I heard was more like the familiar blade of grass. The music was lovely.

assorted wise guy comments:

1) "I wonder if his name is 'Homelite', because he's a really good leaf blower..."

2) I wish Les Pauls, Strats and ES-335s grew on trees...

3) When he plays "Autumn Leaves" is it the name of his song? or the name of his instrument?

4) add yours here_____________________________________

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
