If anyone is interested in Amplitube2 Live you can get it here for $15. I just downloaded it and it has some very impressive guitar amp sounds. The price is right.

Mario, I have Amplitube 1 LE and it's been a real workhorse for me. Which 3 amp models are included?

Included is a Fender and a Marshal type amp along with a bass amp. It also has cabinet selections, 11 stomp pedals, different mics and mic placements and more. I have not had a change to play around with it much yet, unfortunately, but I was impressed with what I did hear on the Fender side of things.

You have a PM.

Mario, thanks for the reply. Amplitube 1 LE works very well, so I think you'll enjoy this one. Since I have Guitar Rig and recently bought a Behringer Bass V-Amp Pro off of Craigslist, I'm probably all set.

For those wanting a legitimate amp simulation without a great deal of hassle with too many controls - make sure to give Amplitube a spin. It's very light on computer resources; different than some of the good freeware amp simulations.

As an alternative, Waves is giving away a free download and 1 year license for their GTR Solo software.

http://www.wavesgtr.com/html/product_gtr_solo.html

I love the sound of this virtual rig, so much that I eventually went ahead and purchased the full GTR3 product.

But free (for a year, at least). That's hard to beat.

BTW, related to this, another "no brainer" deal currently on the audiomidi.com site is for Steven Slate Drums EX, at only $20. This deal only lasts till the end of the month.

Yeah, that's an INSANE price, and was MORE than worth it for me.

I purchased SSD EX last night, and finally got around to downloading and installing today, and as far as "rock" kits go... well, let's just say I don't want to use Toontrack's "Drumkit from Hell" anymore.

I replaced my default "rock" kit in my live virtual rig, and I must say, the Steven Slate stuff instantly lifted my sound to the next level. Much more lively and realistic.

Toontrack's "Jazz" and "Cocktail" kits are still quite great IMO, but when it comes to rock, the Steven Slate Drums are in another class.

Does the free version required iLok??

I don't know but I don't like the 1 year bait and switch. Same reason I never take up any stores on the '1 year free credit' deals.

When I was using it, GTR Solo didn't require the iLok.

Also, the free credit bait-and-switch analogy doesn't really hold up, since Waves will NEVER charge you for GTR Solo unless you deliberately buy it.

Think of it as a 365 day free trial. Did I mention free?

That's not a bad deal either, IMO. I spotlighted the Amplitube deal in another thread after I bought it, along with a deal at Esoundz for AT2 at $99. AT2 Live is a very nice plug and well worth $15. I love the Fender sim. And the pedals that are included are about all I ever use in my actual rig. They also include a tuner, a noise gate and a bunch of useful presets that are great starting points. Hey, I've spent more money at Starbucks this past week than I spent on this amp and pedalboard plugin...

Woo hoo!

Today I managed to put together a GREAT sounding jazz kit, starting with the Nashville kit included in the Steven Slate Drums EX, then modifying from there. I replaced a couple of instruments, did quite a bit of tweaking, but now I have a kit that is audibly much better than my old EZDrummer "Jazz" setup.

I honestly was NOT expecting to be able to do this with SSD, especially for a $20 investment, but now my live rig has ALL the drums being served up via Steven Slate. Once I got the levels and sounds working well with a couple of songs, I was done, because now EVERY song in my jazz "accompanied" song list sounds much more "swinging".

*taps toe*

NICE!

Thanks for the tip guys. For $15 this is a true "no brainer" and does a pretty good job. I would say an excellent job for the dollar. Glad I found it.

I got the Steven Slate app too but it seems pretty complicated to set up. I have a set of electronic drums that I can do either midi or audio out on so that is painless for me. Doesn't quite have the finesse of a real set but the audio out sounds pretty good and the effects are already set up through the module - no mics or effort involved. Takes 15 minutes to lay down a quick track. Pick a set and wack the sticks.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
