Mama's Goin' Home]We're finally in our new house ... and living in a cardboard box jungle! But we're really excited and pleased! I've been without Internet for 9 days ... just got it up and going yesterday. I've not forgotten or abandoned any of you! Will catch up on my listens and commenting over the next few days as I can. The list of the band members is on my old computer (bought a new one several days ago). Will post the tracks soon. Just a three-piece acoustic group doing their best to play a sad song ... pretty much a dirge. Thanks for the listen and any comments you choose to leave for me. Please be safe ... Alan

Dear Alan, dear Di,
first of all Maha and I want to congratulate you on your new home. May all sorrows always stay outside, instead let it be filled with music.
With beautiful music like 'Mama's Goin' Home'. Very different from what I've heard from you so far, but it's of theat same unmistakable wonderful 'Alan taste'.
Using that fiddle was an awesome idea - very, very, very nice !
All the best to the both of you, hugs from Maha.
Stefan

I really like this...I'm a dirge fan from way back and a Leonard Cohen fan to compound it. Simple arrangement and excellent chord progression. It did make we hanker for some words though.

Another quality work from that “arranger’s mind” that you possess..always seems to be the key to how you tease the best out of what the RT’s are hiding. The chord chart surprised in a few areas, in a pleasing way. Best of luck in the new nest.

Happy for you and Di, Al. Barb & I finally got into our new place, too, a couple weeks ago. It was supposed to be done early May. Well, it surely sounds like you unpacked the most important stuff first. At first this seemed like a very sad tune, and I longed to hear Mama's Comin' Home, but as the song progressed I felt like I was already there waiting for her. Well done, Al. Now try to make something out of all that cardboard.

Hi Stefan ...
It's always such a great pleasure when you listen to my music and leave such wonderful comments. And yes, this one is a little different from what I usually do. But, at the time, it was something that just popped into my head ... so I decided to go with it.
I'll be sending you a PM tonight my time ... early tomorrow morning your time. I'll "talk" to you then. best to you and Maha.
Alan

Many thanks for those very kind words! And yes, Leonard Cohen was a master song crafter ... probably the best of his era. Wishing you the best. Take care and be safe ... Alan

The chord chart surprised in a few areas, in a pleasing way. Best of luck in the new nest. Hi Tano ... You are always very kind with your comments regarding my music. I appreciate that a lot. Whatever arrangement skills I may posses are pretty much indigenous rather than learned or "trained". It's just what comes to me arbitrarily. But I'm delighted to know it has some coherence and acceptable syntax to it. Now, if only i could sing better than a cement truck out of control! Many thanks for your comments. Take care and be safe. best to you. Alan

Thank you for the nice words about the song. It was one of those things that "just happened". I was playing around with a few RTs and when I heard the acoustic bass track, it immediately told me it was the RT I had been looking for to complete a whim that came my way several days ago. This where the whim took me. Wishing you & Barb nothing but the very best in your new house. Take care and be safe ... Alan

The Tom Waits reference hadn't come to mind until I read your comment. I can see what your hearing there. Nice analogy! the new house is slowly taking shape but will be in order soon (I hope!). Thank you for the constant support and words of encouragement... much appreciated! Take care and be safe. Happy Thanksgiving! Alan

Excellent Al. We love the feel and as always are impressed at your chops in putting together these all BiaB productions. And we suspect PG Music likes them also!
Congrats on the house. We built and moved into ours 32 years ago. Time do fly.
Enjoyed it!
