Have A Christmas Party This two and a half minute excursion into rockabilly takes “the current situation” into account lyrically. We are appreciative of your time to listen and comments are most welcome. Have a great holiday and be safe! No reverb was added to the tracks including the vocal but vintage plate reverb and slap back delay are on the master bus to help with the 50’s rockabilly vibe. Although Bud played bass lack of finger calluses prevented a good slap sound (the "chicka") so Janice provided that on the cajon. Janice and Bud aka Chicka and Boom. This is a complete remake (all new tracks) of a tune we posted several years ago. Lyrics on SC. Janice: Vocal/cajon/arrangement/melody Bud: Upright bass/arrangement/lyrics/tech stuff Peter: Solo guitar Vocal: Rodes NT1 > Scarlett 212 > Nectar 3 Bass: Dusty Old Kay > Rodes NT1 > Scarlett > Waves Bass Rider > Neutron 2 RealDrums: BoomchickaEv16 > Waves CLA Drums Snare: Doubled from above > Neutron 3 Cajon: Neutron 3 Piano: MIDI SuperTrack 2470 Acoustic, Rhythm RockabillyBoomChickaKevin Ev 100 > Logic Pro X Grand Steinway Rhythm Guitar: RT 2423 Electric, Rhythm RockabillyBoomChickaBrent Ev 100 Mixed and mastered in Logic Pro X > Logic EQ > Logic Space Designer > Waves J37 > Ozone Maximizer > Ozone Tonal Balance > Logic Loudness meter

Should be illegal for three people to have so much talent... but I'm delighted it's not! If there was a little crowd noise I'd swear I was in one of the St. Louis local venues around 1956.
Besides being terrific musicians/vocalists, you folks are serious entertainers. Love the song and Janice's voice is o perfect for it. Peter knows his way around those strings and 20 some-odd frets. And who turns knobs better than Bud?
You guys put a big smile on my face ... thanks. Wishing all of you a fabulous Christmas and a fantastic 2021. Take care and be safe.

YES!!! Superb.
I knew Janice's lyrical side up to now, but here she is in virtuoso mode ... fabulous. Superb singing.
The rest - well, you're all pros, gentlemen, and boy it shows once more. Guitar playing, RealTrack selection, production ... the usual high standard we've come to expect from you and from which you never deviate.
Dare I say that I think this is one of your best? :-)
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all of you!!!

No better way to get into the spirit of the season than by jumping on the BIAB User Showcase and listening to all the choice tunes. This one had me moving around pretty good with its rockabilly rhythm. Terrific job, folks. Yep, many are celebrating only in ones or twos this year. I have a huge family that loves to get together but I won't be seeing any of them this year. So it's nice to have the Showcase family for some festive music. Thanks again, folks!

What a fun song! Of course, everything was what it needed to be. The guitar solo was way cool And Janice's little vocal ad libs so added to the realism. Bass player was solid. It just bounced right a long in a jolly way. Good spirit! I did NOT see that ending coming. What a great way to end a song. Leave it to you to come up with that. I really like it. Mixing and production had exactly what I was hoping for. This club is becoming a favorite stop for me! So in closing, if you could pull the synths back a bit, and maybe take off the auto-tune entirely, you may have something here! This is just one of those great REAL sounding songs. Love it. Thanks for the fun and merriment! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all as well.

Hello Janice,Bud and Peter,
It is a very pleasant composition to celebrate a Merry Christmas. In Europe, this year, it will be discreet because we are limited in the number of participants for this family's party. But thank you very much for this melody that warms our hearts.
Kindly regards

Oh yeah, I do love a little rockabilly and Janice, you sing it so well. The usual great production and playing from Bud (or should I say Boom) and a lovely little flourish from Peter to sign it off. Very best wishes to you all at the close of this extraordinary year. Regards, Leon

This song gave me a wonderful early Buddy Holly vibe – partly because Buddy & Bob did a lot of this sort of thing and Janice has included some VERY cool hiccough/percussive vocal parts. I think you did the bass really well. I enjoyed the entire package. WELL DONE – it’s a cracker of a song.

I read your description about just putting the reverb and slap on the master before I listened, man, what a great sound! You have some serious chops behind the board, Bud! Nice to hear you on the bass again too. Love the little opening guitar part from Peter, cool solo too. And Janice was obviously having fun with this one Fabulous! Great stuff you three, very much enjoyed.

It was nice of you to note her vocal dancing and my bass. Yeah we'll remix it w/o the synths but I tried auto-tune on Janice and it crashed after she did her first "singing around the note." J&B

Hi Janice, Bud & Peter,
well, finger calluses is definitely the only thing lacking with this uplifting and toe-tapping tune. Ever since I got to know Brian Setzer I dig rockabilly a lot.
And besides the fact that it was a wonderful idea to add some Christmas greetings and that 'thank you' for PGMusic the tune is a very enjoyable listen.
Okay, Janice, is there any style you can't sing like 'd invented it? Bud, despite the lacking finger calluses the bass sounds just great (is it miked or has it got P/Us?). (I think I will copy and paste this in the future:) Awesome sound, Bud.
Peter, as usual a wonderful job on the guitar.
Thank you, you hot threesome, for so many great productions in the course of this otherwise mean and ugly year - you made my day more than once.
Happy holidays to you all and all the best for 2021 - most of all: stay safe!!!
Take care,
Stefan
PS: Has anybody heard anything about Jim? His last post was in March and he doesn't even react to a PM...

Sexiest Christmas song since "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claude"...I mean CLAUSE! Santa CLAUSE! Sounds wonderful and so much fun. Peter's tone is killer.
Enjoy yours. Ours will pass without too much hoopla, but that's the way we like it anyway.

Well if that don’t get everybody dancing around the Christmas tree nothing will! Great idea to add the cajon along with the bass track. It worked well. The bass really drives the whole thing and Bud you certainly have a great feel for the pocket. Superb vocal and some nice tasty guitar touches round out a dilly of a rockabilly holiday treat. Nice job and Happy Holidays to all of you, Tom

Thanks for the comments on my small part in this fun project.
Loved what Janice did with the vocal - she is a real chameleon and can turn her hand to almost any vocal genre. Also enjoy it when Bud dusts off the bass - he just needs to work on those callouses.
Hope everyone has a safe Christmas (party).
Peter

Janice, Bud and Peter:
Another great offering—like the choice of going rockabilly with this Christmas tune. Peter adds some really cool licks throughout and Janice’s vocal is great—particularly like those little bits of scatting in the breaks between lines. Fun and foot-tapping stuff!
Have a Merry Christmas!

Hi Janice and Bud. This is an absolute jolly and rollicking joy from start to finish. At the end it is interesting to hear your (Janice) delightfully captivating spoken word accent which is very charming. Looking forward to hearing more of your exemplary music in the new year. p.s. Thank you for all your moral support that is so important and appreciated by this newbie.

Hot dang, you guys are good. Chicka, your voice is always superb with feeling. And, Boom, keep it up, man. You're calluses are coming back. Sounds so much better with you IN the mix as well as INTO it. Chicka, Boom and Bender. That makes you the string-bending cat that brings that extra excitement to the stage, Peter. Great guitar stuff as always, man. Another great song from one of my favorite bands. Merry Christmas!!!

Thank you Stefan for ALL your support of our music during this difficult year. We are excited you liked this this rockabilly effort! You put a big smile on Janice’s face when she read this. Regarding the bass I used a mic wrapped in foam rubber and pressed behind the bridge. It gets decent sustain and eliminates most ambient noise. Best to you both! J&B

Chicka & Boom + Peter, Fun uplifting tune! Cool live vibe! You should definitely do more tunes in this manner. Nice teamwork on bass Vocals A+ Peter's guitar adds a nice vintage flavor. I was just reading about plates reverb on M.bus, fine example of that. Thank you for sharing and happy holidays! Misha.

That just about takes the cake. Great job! Thanks Ed.
Thanks! That’s the way we like Christmas also! J&B

Nice job and Happy Holidays to all of you, Tom Thanks Tom for the great comments! "Dilly of a rockabilly" most cool Hope you two are having a fun Holiday season. J&B

Hi, Bud & Janice !
What a PARTY ! I´d loved to be there too, but am stuck over here in the darkness without snow ! Sigh !
There´s nothing beatin´Janice & Co in a good country blues !
A Merry Christmas to all of you too !
Cheers Dani
Thanks Dani! J&B Janice, Bud and Peter:
Another great offering—like the choice of going rockabilly with this Christmas tune. Peter adds some really cool licks throughout and Janice’s vocal is great—particularly like those little bits of scatting in the breaks between lines. Fun and foot-tapping stuff!
Have a Merry Christmas!
Deej
Thanks Deej --- Janice was happing you liked the rockabilly scats! J&B

Thank you Gary. Your are more than welcome...we look forward to more from you. "This is an absolute jolly and rollicking joy from start to finish." That says it all to us as that was our objective. Much appreciated. Glad you liked Janice's most southern accent. It is 100% genuine! J&B

You three are definitely dynamite together! I have run out of adjectives to say about your songs. Every song you do is so much better than today's radio. I love rock-a-billy and you three kick it out of the park. I hope y'all had a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have a safe and happy 2021. PS - Chicka and Boom sounds like a it might be a new fast food chicken sandwich place

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
