THERE'S STILL ROOM LEFT FOR YOU

This started out as an experiment with some new software and developed into something a little more. It's a bluesy Gospel tune that is very different from anything I've posted here! I will be tweaking this for quite a while, but I have it to a place where I feel comfortable posting it! Thanks once again for giving my music a listen! I truly appreciate it!

A technical note: Some of you may notice that I used the BIAB vocal oohs which are EV tracks in a 6/8 swing pattern. I made it work by splitting the audio track between every phrase and cut it down to fit.

BIAB
Vocal Oohs Ev 85

Me
Vocals, Guitars, Piano and Organ

For the main Drums, Bass and Piano tracks I used Toontrack products

There's Still Room Left For You
Words and music by
Torrey Bliss ©2022

You messed up the deed is done
You wanna turn the page
Yet it's been etched deep in stone
Still some just won't let it go
They condemn your soul
And say there's no hope for you

Oh come to the Savior who's waiting
With arms reaching out
Yes He will embrace you
Oh I do believe that in heaven
There's still room left for you

Your past just keeps hanging on
It won't leave you alone
Stuck under that cold dark cloud
It's time that you tried something new
Shake off those old blues
Listen to me please believe

Oh come to the Savior who's waiting
With arms reaching out
Yes He will embrace you
Oh I do believe that in heaven
There's still room left for you

Torrey testifies...
this has a solid gospel leaning without taking on the whole package with instrumentation - it remains Torrey Blissful.
Your cadence is unique and you're ace with melody as well as instrumentation.
The lead is lovely - spot on.

Torrey...I think 6/8 time is still the best way to present gospel music and you did a great job...you always do such a tasteful rendition of whatever you're presenting and this is no exception...I love the sync of the whole piece and I agree with rayc about not over producing the package...you know I love the message...reminds me of "There's Room at the Cross for You" except the song is nothing like that smile...I always look forward to your next post...thanks Torrey.

Hi Torrey,

Yes I also love the 6/8 timing - suits the song and genre perfectly.

I particularly liked the singing and lead break.

Best Regards

Nice tune. "There's still room left for you" - good hook line. You mixed everything well. Good use of the band too, especially that electric guitar during break.

Hi Torrey
You always manage to interpret different styles of music in your own way.
You do it really well
Because this makes your music interesting for many more people
The song is very sensitively played with a great sound
Your singing is absolutely on point
Just like your great guitar playing
Very nice song, Torrey
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Very cool intro Torrey. Loved the dip into the minor chords. Gave the song such a cool vibe. The timing on those descending chords was perfect. Very difficult to do. Guitar was awesome as well as the vocal. Really really well done..

"Oh, it's the truth."

Amen. The intro, the build to the chorus, the guitar solo, the drums into the final chorus - this is excellent. laugh

I really like your vocal - it's a good register for you, and to be honest, I didn't really recognize your voice until the high notes, because that's where your voice is most distinctive (sort of like Eric Woolfson in that regard).

Good write, too.

Someone mentioned Elvis Costello, and the pedal guitar reminds me of his "flirting with country" phase.

But mostly, it's a good Gospel song with a positive message, and that's what I enjoyed the most about it.

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

Yes, definitely different for you, I didn't recognize your voice at first. I got a Paul Simon with the Dixie Hummingbirds feel to it, too bad you can't hire an entire choir. Another great job and I would be surprised with anything less. Really enjoyed it!

Torrey,

Excellent.

A strong write. Good vocals (as always). BGVs, too.

The mix is really well balanced. ALL the instruments are strong and clear. The vocals are perfectly placed in the mix.

The piano sounds great. Drums sound great. Bass is smooth and supportive.
Nice guitar work (of course).

Good stuff, start to finish. Well done. Excellent Music.

Different, but in a good way. Nice gospel tune with very positive mood.
Lovely to hear those beautiful chords played with the piano. And the interplay with the guitar solo and the bass is very enjoyable. Excellent vocals really shine in this light arrangement.

That's a good song. Pretty solid biblical write that teases one who knows the hymn this one shadows well without getting too close to the other.

Nicely done.

Two words apply to every song you post, Torrey: Professional and Talented. Man, you always stay on that high-standard. Each and every piece in the mix sits so well. Yes, this is different from you in many ways, but those remain constant. Very creative in your mathematical approach to BGVs works perfectly. Such a good write.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Outstanding soulful vocal and guitar performances (and other tracks).

Well written and arranged also. The total package Mr. Bliss!

Similar theme but definitely not the melody or chord structure. I guess there have probably been hundreds of songs with a similar sentiment. I know of this song but it was not a factor in my composition.

Hi Torrey Bliss,

Nice orchestration, the Biab vocal was well integrated.

It is true that Toontrack is a great tool for drums.

It's well mixed and the whole is very pleasant.Well done.

Kindly regard

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
