Okay, this is a very, very beginner question, but it is driving me crazy. How do you open a saved song that you are working on?
I just installed BIAB and created(started to anyway) part of a song, and when I start up BIAB to work on it again, I can't seem to find a way to open it. I am on a Mac, btw.
If I go to File Open the system brings me to a bunch of folders on my computer. Surely there must be an easier way to open up a project you are working on than having to search through folders to find the project. I was hoping at least a Open Recent option but I don't see that either.
Can anyone help me with this question? I didn't find this question asked in searching the forums so maybe this one can help someone else as well.

Could you have possibly previous closed Band-in-a-Box without saving the song first? Before closing your project, always go to either File | Save, or File | Save Song As.
If you remember the name of the file you could search for it in the top right search function of your Finder window and use that to locate what folder it is saved in.

The first time I saved it using the Save As where I then named it, and the second time I saved it I just hit Save. I just thought there would be an Open Recent Project or something rather than having to search through folders for my song. Or if there isn't, that is one suggestion I would like to make.

There are various options under file | Open Special, such as "Open Previous Song". I just personally like the Open dialogue to see the name of the file before opening it.
Whenever I've done a Save As, on any application, and I then can't find the file, what I do is to start another Save As, because normally that will open in the same place as last time.
The usual reason for not being able to find the file is because the application saved, for example, in some default location that I didn't think of. Generally that's because I didn't navigate to the "right place", I just saved without thinking about it.

Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful. Kawai MP6, Korg M50, Ui24R, Saffire Pro 40. AVL:MXE Linux; Windows 11; Win8.1: Scarletts BIAB2022 UltraPAK, Reaper, a bunch of stuff.
I found it first with Open Previous Song as suggested by Chantelle. And those pictures really helped, Gordon, and I found it under Favorite Songs as well.
Thanks again for all of your help! Now I can concentrate more on making the music and not scouring the computer for my song projects.

Glad to hear it! As you may have noticed, there's certainly a few different ways to open a file in the program, so glad you found one that worked best for you!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Update your Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows for free with build 1111!
With this update, there's more control when saving images from the Print Preview window, we've added defaults to the MultiPicker for sorting and font size, updated printing options, updated RealTracks and other content, and addressed user-reported issues with the StylePicker, MIDI Soloists, key signature changes, and more!
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
