re chord trak re-sizable. GOTCHA !! SUPERB for people like moi a tad vision impaired.

and there we have it…..

****Realband the leader of the daw world.****

add in vst3 support for those that want it , and away we go.
no other daw could touch it cos also auto accompany rd//rt//midi etc etc built in.

that covers all my dreams n' desires. lol.

i tell ya…it wouldnt take much coding work either ? useing rapid dev tools ?
cos rb already has so much functionality.
(from my experience as a coder yonks ago. I hated coding…lol.)

if that comes about i'll send the realband developers a blinkin' nice present..lol.

wonderful graphics work MC !! please dont delete em'.

if anyone else/another rb user can see any more added rb features needed…have at it.

happiness.

Besides the generate functions of bbw2 what are the list of function/features you use/need in RB that you can't do in another DAW ?

(re use..need).

i'll try to explain…which i hope makes sense re rb.
(Maybe someone new to pg might find this of interest too.)

1..Firstly, some history.

in the past 'old days' pre daws often a studio would be hired by individuals and groups obviously to record and/or develop further ones songs/ideas etc.
Some people would go in with fully developed ideas and others not.
sometimes the studio was used to 'jam n' lets see what comes out of it'sorta idea.

Often song development involved firstly laying down 'rough instruments n' guide vocs'.
ie…bed tracks /experimentation.
then the next phase often was the use of pro session musicians to really make a song shine.
which is why some studios often used the same 'rhythm section' and soloists for different songwriters songs.

so how does this method relate to pg products ?...here goes mate.

2..Use of PG products.
(bear in mind the 'bed traks' n' 'session musicians'.)

heres how i think logically and the reason for the preamble in para 1 mate.

i think of biab as my 'bed traks//guide traks generator' as well as my 'test bed for alternate chord arrangements' and real band as my tester of 'session musicians//solos etc ie THE SHINE'.

now someone might say 'but you can use biab for both ..this is true BUT rb has 48 traks. and bb has fewer traks….so when i'm auditioning
session musicians i often find i run out of traks in bb compared to rb.

please understand mate cos rb has sooo many traks…when i'm going thru' slews of pg musicians i can do things like ' hmm dunno if i like that but ill save it to a muted trak till something better comes up' OR WOW i'm loving that session musician so it gets saved. in summary with rb i have more flexibility cos of more traks i can save my session musician 'likes' to.

now some people will say..'i dont bother with rb, i find something i like in bb n' bonk it into my fav **** daw. ' yes one can do it that way but FOR ME that way i'm finding i'm toing n' froing too much tween bb n' the daw. basically i'm using rb to save my 'likes' or 'close like' or session musicians that i like but need some manipulating//tricks.
i'm not knocking what others do…but for me i like my method.

in summary after having gone thru' tons of pg session musicians and culling the herd i often end up with 30 or more session musicians i like on separate traks of course in rb.

having done the above THEN its final song assembly time.
this is where TOD comes in. if a trak needs lots of manipulation//moving licks around i'll do this in TOD.
eg detailed deep editing. final assembly i might stay in rb if its more straightfoward.
(hence i like the way you showed trak/clip editing in your bb/rb graphics.)

once ive sorted the audio wheat from the chaff THEN i do my final lead vocs in TOD.
i sometimes use TOD to mixdown n' sometimes rb for final mix to stereo.

to wrap up..two of the things i like about rb is the LOOOONG MENU which allows me to do lots of gen tricks etc etc as well as the flexibility of trak count viz biab.

in summary i dont think of TOD vs Biab vs RB BUT using the features of all 3.

oops forgot to mention…if biab had 48 traks then i would have a different method particularly if this new biab had all the fancy editing your great graphics example showed upthread.

i hope i make some sense…lol.

respect and happiness mate.

om

ps..another reason i root for rb is i like to support the underdog…lol.

I just wanted to see what function that are not available in TOD that you have to go to RB for.
The thinking being that I don't have a good feeling about PG putting all this effort into the old RB delphi code RB (but I could be wrong) and seeing if these missing functions could be scripted into TOD along with an RB theme if the BBPlugin is going to be overhauled to play/gen instantly or the BiaB track data be written to a txt file that TOD reads to instantly transfer the same BiaB track sections in the format of your choice like FLAC.
I think I could do that with TOD rather than trying to get PG to do it with RB, I think PG could do it with TOD easier than RB.

i highly admire you for your TOD scripting prowess.

but the problem using the bb plug in for me is i really like the rb LOOOONG menu and the tricks ive developed with its use and the use of rb's 48 traks in auditioning tons of rt's//rd's//midi etc etc.

cos when i do a song i audition loads of rt's and not just the ones linked with a certain style.
(lateral thinking …lol).
so i can find the 'magic nuggets' for a song.

sometimes i might audition 200 or many more rt's as an example…then on that 201'th rt i go YES…and all the auditioning work is worth it.
if i hadnt auditioned loads of rt's i wouldnt have found the lead break n' outtro mate for speedway song on scloud that i like.

if pg could find a way to make seq's with saved high track counts smaller that would be v nice.
mind you i just bought a m.2 ssd 256gb thats blinkin' fast for 35 buckies.

all i want for xmas..lol…for rb 2024 is exactly that fab graphic you did upthread…sigh.
which would obviate the need for chord view. cos its all there in trak view.
i can deal with the fact that rb is a bit of a 'ugly duckling'. but like many ugly ducklings there is often beauty underneath.

best

Just keep these suggestions up your sleeve, I'm not saying that PG don't respond to suggestions and are not quick and enthusiastic to act.
I can clone that Generate menu and call on BiaB same as you call on bbw2 in RealBand to generate up the tracks to wav files that give massive SEQs.
If you upload a frozen SGU I will convert it to a TOD session you can try as it will only be small and reference the source files. Let me know what drive you have the RT/RD on and if you use wma or wav. You could also batch convert your RT/RD files to FLAC and use them directly.
I just don't want to see you disappointed after years of hoping and wishing like me. I would like to give you some hope.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
