A Cover of a classic Shadows classic tune from 1962. Yep, 60 years old. Still a great tune. Re-imagined using Band In A Box to create a 'live band' performance feel to the backing. Hands these days can't play the palm muted parts very well so WYHIWYG. https://youtu.be/D3Rs8rrK1OsStarted with BLANK 4/4 STYLE - RealTracks in song: 683:Bass, Electric, PopHalfNotesPush Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 686:Organ, B3, Background Pop Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 1175:Guitar, Acoustic, Rhythm PopCalypso Ev 100 MIDI SuperTracks in song: 1804:Synth Pad, PopUplift Ev 120 RealTracks in song: 2293:Horn Section, Rhythm PopPads Ev 130 RealDrums in Song:PopRock8ths^05-a:Closed Hat, Sidestick, b:Open Hat, Snare Bests Ian

SIX.
MASSIVE !! UN-BLINKIN'-BELIEVEABLE !!
What a wonderful show of what biab can do. You sir are a true guitar talent.
that's one of my fav all time instrumentals. yep that palm muting is a tad fiddly … BUT you did STELLAR !!
ive played along to that so many times for fun, but never been able to nail the tone like you did. so if you want to share your sig chain …preferably a cheap solution for us poorer …lol…i'm all ears. i would be over the moon if pg offered a plug in for bb n' rb for gtr players that produced that classic tone.
ive always wondered where the shads recorded their hits ie the studio. do you know ? abbey rd ?
your soo good you should try some of the oldie jet h n' tony m songs..n' other instrumentals. eg diamonds.
its grrreat to see these "wonderfull' oldies introduced to new generations of musos.
super duper six…seriously.
happiness.
om

Hi om Thanks for the praise. Blush! Must have played it hundreds of times in the past but was astonished how difficult those damped sections were nowadays with these ancient hands. I can't afford expensive gear these days. Those days are long gone. BB is my only Sin. Lol. My 'chain' such as it is is Strat (bespoke HBM 40th Anni copy) - Boss CS-1 pedal (set low for evenness) - Alesis Q2 echo unit (I've had since 2004) - Joyo ACTone Vox AC30 emulator pedal (inexpensive but excellent Vox emulator) - Cakewalk DAW. That's it. My 'real' Vox sits unused with a cover it these days. Would love to do Diamonds etc but there are no RDs that get anywhere close to TMs drumming. The Shads recorded mostly at Abbey Road, certainly in their 'Golden Years'. At times they were recording at same time as The Beatles. Hazy days! Bests Ian

Ian,
Excellent as always. You always come up with such beautiful sounding mixes that compliment your playing.

Hi Ian, Here is the Biab file I created for Telstar. I can't remember if I added other tracks to the mix. I did a slide on lap steel for the key change. Take care, Andrew https://www.dropbox.com/s/7ovkwsxs7935a90/Telstar%20.SGU?dl=0

SIX. what i always found interesting about shads was on some songs you can hear intonation is off a bit. eg is it the savage ? that just starts with drums n' bass ive forgotten. if ive got it right i always loved that one also. ok found it …the savage. difficult rhythm cos fast….lol. gotta keep hand loose…lol. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2W3HJbf7Goi loved playing with it. cute ending . you ever considered doing it six ? re joyo …is this the pedal ?? Joyo ACTone Vox AC30 nice price. https://www.amazon.ca/JOYO-JF-13-Tone-Vox-Amp/dp/B006QUGBVKAndrew. lovely job. apparently they got the telstar sound by reversing audio of a toilet flushing…! if i remember it was joe meeks studio in north london ? (i'm a londoner.) happiness. om

Hi Ian, Great job on this, you pretty much nailed his tone I think. Guitar should be a tad louder for my tastes, but that's probably just me Good to see a new upload from you!

Hi Andrew thanks for the SGU for Telstar. Very nicely done. Would you mind if I used it as the base for doing it myself? I found the Dublin Rock style had a very close style to what I would have used. Bests Ian

Hi om Yes, I've recorded The Sausage but not with a BiaB BT. Great tune isnt it? And Yes - the Joyo is exactly that one. When I bought mine it was £19.50. its £47 nowadays. SHeesh! Before they came along I used a tiny Korg Ampworks as a recording emulator. Miniscule but it did the job, more or less. Still have it. Bests Ian I'm a Manc originally, now in the West Mids

Hi Ian, Great job on this, you pretty much nailed his tone I think. Guitar should be a tad louder for my tastes, but that's probably just me Good to see a new upload from you! Hi Dave thanks for the kind comment. Much appreciated. My Strat has Kinman pups in and I use a Joyo Vox emulator and that really helps with the tone. I agree that maybe the Lead should have been a bit more forward. Been struggling since Aug '22 with a wrecked hip which has stopped me being able to sit or stand for very long. So I do my BB BT and recording in small bites now before the ache gets too bad. Bests Ian

Ian,
Go ahead, great tune. I used a recording of the Space Shuttle for the take-off. Not around when the original took off, but got the job done.
All my best, Andrew
If you want any other SGU's let me know.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
