A bit off topic for the forum but ... any one out there tried running Izotope Nectar 3 and/or Neutron 3 with Ventura? It's six months after the Ventura release and Izotope has only a tiny percentage of their products ready. I know what the compatible products are and am just interested in the two I mentioned. Thanks!

Ventura 13.3.1 here, using Logic Pro X 10.7.7.

Nectar 3 appears to work fine. Individual controls are available, and the Vocal Assistant runs to completion.

Neutron 3, less so.

Individual controls are available, but Mix Assistant / Track Enhance stalls while “Waiting for you to play audio…” and Mix Assistant / Balance gives the popup error “Some files required by Mix Assistant were not able to be found. Please reinstall in order to use this feature.” At one point, while in Mix Assistant, Logic crashed completely.

Thanks Mark. Have you tried an individual Neutron 3 module to see if it works? I don't use the mix assistant or track enhance. I load a preset that sounds decent and then tweak it. That same preset chain could be set up by loading the individual modules. I do that a lot with Ozone and thought it might work with Neutron based on your comments.
Thanks again,

Bud

Yes, and you can disregard what I said about the assistants not working — I needed to update Neutron to version 3.9.1. Now all appears well, and selecting various presets does what you might expect. So the latest Neutron (at least the latest Neutron 3) works for me on the latest MacOS.

Thanks a lot Mark. I'm also running 3.9.1 so I think I'm gonna go for the Ventura upgrade as I have Ozone 10 also which is already compatible. I wanted to upgrade for some upcoming beta testing but didn't want to lose any song production functions.

Have you migrated to Apple Silicon?

If so, Pluginfo from the App Store is a must. It will tell you if your plug-ins are AS Native or if you have to run over Rosetta II.

Thanks Mike. No I haven't but plan to. It's not the $ but rather the hassle of ordering and setting things up that keep me putting it off. Back in my PC days I upgraded machines at the least every other year. However when I migrated to a Mac in 2011 I've only upgraded once in 2017. So it's time. I guess ... smile And I assuredly would like to avoid Rosetta so thanks again for the mention of that app.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
