I'm typing in the chords for Take it Easy to practice singing along. The iconic guitar intro lick feels so important, so what's the best way to add it?
I have several guitars, an older Lexicon Alpha interface, a poor dynamic mic and that's it. Adding tablature notes might be the simplest solution. e|-----------------------------|------------| B|-----------------------------|------------| G|---7-----7----7--------------|------------| D|---7b----7b---7b-p5----------|------------| A|-------------------7p5-------|------------| E|-----------------------6p5-2-|-3~~~~~-----|
----------------------------------Well I'm a runnin' down the road...
If you don't play and record, then your next option is to insert the intro as midi. I suspect you will find adding acutal notation versus tab will work best. Here is a starting point for you for you to start from scratch. Or you can download a midi file and copy and paste the intro.
if you play it in in midi you'll need to do the g string bend from A to B and with a keyboard that's sometimes a little difficult to end up on the right note if you bend up. my 'bend' wheel is spring loaded so to get a smooth bend i prebend down, key the note - in this case B and release the wheel. if i remember Bernie makes three bends so you might like to slow the midi tempo down for recording. not sure how easy that is in BIAB but dead easy in RB
Bob's technique is a very good one. But it depends on how many semitones your MIDI sound source pitch bend setting: In Bob's example it is set for 2 semitones, i.e. 2 half steps. Most all of the better sound sources allow you to set the pitch bend range while many GM programs do not.
I hope this helps.

To set your pitch bend range in MIDI, you need to use 3 continuous controllers in succession. I make them one tic apart, but as long as there are no other CCs in between you should be OK.
cc#100=0 CC#101=0 CC#6=total pitch bend range in semitones. I usually enter 2, unless I have a need for more. My old MT32 synth module is set at 12 semitones.
A complete list of the MIDI continuous controllers can be found here:
The more you know about MIDI, and the more you know about how to use it, the more you can customize your music to do things that prerecorded audio cannot do. (Yet?)

Thanx for bringing this up Notes. I had forgotten about that as I was typing my message.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
