Hi everyone,

I'm a complete beginner, and I have a question. Is there a place, or a forum, or a website, where users can share their ready-to-use songs, rendered in BIAB? If I wanted to play along some popular rock songs, is there a way to get (or buy) a ready to use rendering with all the settings already configured properly?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I learn something every day!
She has quite a website full of great songs by Bob Seger, Fleetwood Mac, Marshall Tucker, Dylan, JJ Cale and a bunch more.
I jammed to a couple on my bass.

Oleg, welcome to the forum.

Joanne, did you have to do anything regarding copyrights for these songs?
I don't think I could do the same on my SoundCloud account.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

And (self-serving plug) there are nany thousands of already rendered songs in BiaB format here for as little as 10 cents per song:

And optional books on most where you can read/play along.

Hi there!

Yes, I discovered your collections, and the selection is vast!

The issue that I'm experiencing with most demo SGU that are available for download is that usually I am missing some of the styles or real tracks that are used in them, and BIAB replaces them with some default settings, which makes the tracks to sound aweful.

Can you please tell me - what styles packs would I need to buy, to leverage your SGU files to the fullest? I wouldn't want to go all the way to the top and buy everything... I'm using BIAB 2023 in its basic configuration.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

For true best results, I'd think you would need the Ultrapak at least.
That way you get all the styles/RTs/RDs etc.

Might seem like an investment but it would likely pay off in joy, and in the long run save money versus buying sets one at a time.

.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

That's a tough one, so the answer isn't short (sorry).

When I compile a fake disk, I subcontract other musicians to pick the styles. I tell them to pick the best style for the song, and not to favor my Norton Music styles. If I chose the styles myself, I would probably pick my own more often, because I know them.

I also have them pick only MIDI styles. Why? If a MIDI style is chosen, BiaB will suggest a Real Style. On the other hand, if a Real Style is assigned, no MIDI style is suggested, so the MIDI users are out of luck. I did one fake disk with nothing but real styles, and the MIDI people let me know they didn't like that.

With all the styles out there, and all the versions of some songs that have been recorded, the style my subcontractor chooses might not be the best one for you.

Like PG Music, I keep the styles and songs separate. Why? Since some styles fit so many songs, if I bundled them with the fake disks, people would end up buying the same style more than once, and that's not fair.

So if you don't have the style suggested, you can pick another style from your collection of styles. Depending on your taste in music, it might even be a better choice.

If you want to know how many Norton Music styles are chosen on a particular fake disk, and how to find them, I can provide that information.

With most Fake Disks that I sell, there are free samples that you can play in BiaB. I usually include one song with a PG style, and one with a Norton style, just to be honest. Depending on the book complied, some have more Norton styles and others have fewer. It's up to the subcontractors.

It can be fun to experiment with other styles, and as you grow with Band-in-a-Box and experience different styles, you will be better at guessing which style works for you.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
