Touching story wrapped in strong lyrics. Your emotional voice really shines when there are no guitars to hide details. That piano sounds great and the cello and especially the accordion bring nice variation to the dark mood. After this kind of song that gets deep into your mind it is difficult to listen to anything else than the silence the fading accordion leaves behind.

For me, I find I just can't get the precise feeling I am looking for on upfront melodic piano unless I do it myself, especially if I am going for "haunting" and the piano is in the foreground.

FWIIW and YMMV etc etc..

I did want to do the piano myself. I had worked it all out. But I find it VERY difficult to record using a VST piano sound (MIDI)...I haven't figured out how to set it up to avoid the delay - which makes it nearly impossible to record a new part to existing tracks...my brain quickly gets confused.

Very nice of you to say, Dan. Thanks.

This hit home as we have family members in similar situations.

Outstanding lyrics and an excellent backing band.

One of your absolute best.

Thanks, Mario. Not sure it's a good thing for this to "hit home"...

Hi floyd jane,

Superb composition full of emotion. The piano is excellent. Putting the accordion back was daring but in the background, it found its place. It's really pleasant to listen to. I appreciated. Well done

Kindly regards

Hi Floyd,

A bit late, but just entered the Forum again for some days now after a nasty time.
A very emotional and sad song, but done very good by you.
Of course, because all songs you make are very good. this is no exception.
Really nice song.

Oh, yes one thing is. The piano. It sounds very nice, but still I miss something in it's sound.
I was thinking what David S wrote in his post to you.

You are also very right about BiaB and their piano's. Their cello's could also need some more sensitivity...
About the piano's; I used two piano's in a song like they are one.
That way I had the sound I liked most. after all I can't play a piano fluently. You?

Hans

Yes, the piano fits well. Cello is great, and the accordion is a great substitute for string swells. I has listening through the example solo pianos tracks you linked to, and I noticed that an intimate string section with swells was used quite often.

And of course, everything else is stellar as well.

Thanks, David...

P.S. I see what you mean by pianos. Wil head over wish section now.

Appreciate that, Misha...

I love the minimal instrumentation. I think the piano works, fitting the mood of the song.

One of your best, and you have a lot of best.

Thanks for that, Scott...

The above lines AND the way you sang them are powerful. Emotive to the max.

We remember this song and it still is “stronger than a garlic milkshake!”

The cello and accordion sound excellent. Whatever manipulations you did with the piano it sounds great in what's played and also the applied grand sound.

The vocal and lyric are stellar.

We hope that waitress if she's still with us is having a better life these days.

Awesome!

PS. We love your album cover!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
