I've read many times musicians state that some beloved songs have flaws in them. But it's not the technical perfection that sells a song - it's the vocal and the feel. And you've got vocals chops to spare.

The guitar solo is fine, but for me it feels like it loses energy in the last phrase instead going out with a bang when the vocal comes back in.

Do you really want to spend more time with this, or work on a new song? Even if you think it's not done... it's good enough for now.

I'd call it done, and see where you are in a couple weeks.

And... nice song, too - especially the vocals! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

The song hooked me from beginning to the end.

The vocal shines above the hot instrument tracks. The vocal sounds excellent and is saturated with passion. I wouldn't change anything about it.

Deej,

It's true that this song is a little rough, but it really shows off your charm and proves that you're a great vocalist.
Sometimes I also find it troublesome to produce music.
But for now, somehow, I've been able to get back to making music.
I think making music is something I enjoy.
I don't think you'll ever give up music either.
I'm always waiting for your music.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Deej,
funky stuff! Stop complaining, you are a very good at composing & singing! I mean it. This tune is perfect example that you can change a direction. To my ears it is whole/complete and sounds really good. I have miles to walk before I can do something similar. Enjoyed this tune and thank you for sharing.

Misha.

P.S. Most of tunes I do are sketches, they are almost never complete and don't sound like a "well produced" items at all smile To me personally, an idea is more important than the end product. Hearing your tunes through my prism of values, I find that you have a lot of great musical ideas plus excellent voice. Most of your tunes sound great. If you want, PM me, I will share a contact of one very affordable and knowledgeable sound guy with excellent reputation. He is mainly a mastering guy, but he can pinpoint production errors or weak spots in production very well. I used him couple of times and was happy with his advise.

J&B, Dan, Noel, BD, Janne, David, Ezekiel, Shigeki, and Misha:

Thanks all for the positive feedback, suggestions and encouragement. It’s much appreciated.

BD: That’s a good rule of thumb . . . I’m trying to embrace it . . . because as you say when it stops being fun it’s no longer a hobby.

David: Yeah, I’ll revisit that guitar solo at some point . . . though the more I listen to it, the more I am becoming more comfortable with it. I’ll try a few alternative takes though in any next version.

Misha: Thanks. I may take you up on your offer at some point. I just find I’m enjoying the mixing process less and less . . . so need to find a way to keep it fun.

Stay well all,

Deej

Loved the groove to this song. That funky guitar was awesome. Super vocal and lyric. Really well done.

Enjoyed it. A good song and the production was fine - going for perfection can be a pain!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
