WaoBand,
Thanks for your comments. I certainly don't mind being mentioned in the same breath as Morricone.

Very cool! laugh
Thanks for you comments Dave.
The intro piano part is edited from SuperTrack 1892: Piano, Solo accompaniment PianoWaltzJohn SW140.
The intro drums are RealDrums (JazzWaltzLewis).
The other parts I wrote and assigned to instruments from Kontakt 7 Factory Library 2.
The title is a play on the words 'piece' and 'peace', with the constantly changing themes and rhythms (a fragile piece) reflecting the the chaos of a war-torn region (a fragile peace).
I hope that's not too much information.
Cheers,
Mike

Hi Mike,

Really, really nice! As B.D. mentioned, could be a real nice movie score.

Love how you transitioned the various movements - simple and smooth. Epic and captivating. I can only try imagine the time and effort needed to write, arrange, and produce this. It works well and is a real joy to listen to.

Glad to hear you're on the mend - keep getting better! Wishing you everything good.

Thanks for your comments Floyd. Glad you like it.
The piano was the Grand Piano from Kontakt's Factory Library 2.

You have an amazing sense of arrangement. This is such a polished presentation.
It was quite a musical journey that you put together with this creation.

On the mix, there COULD have been (not to say there needed to be) more dynamics in the volumes, instrumental tones, and mix (when stuff comes in and out )

With instrumentals, you have nothing but instruments to add dynamic rise and fall so you really have to work those faders in my humble opinion.

Just a thought.

Nicely done.
Thanks David.
You're right about instrumentals relying on instruments. There are no clever/sad/thought-provoking lyrics or a beautiful human voice to add dynamic rise and fall.
It's just the music. But it is rewarding trying to produce a piece of music that listeners can appreciate.

Misha.
Misha, your comment, "like listening to several different tunes that have something in common", is just what I was aiming for - a 'fragile piece' of music reflecting the 'fragile peace' of a war-torn region.
Thanks for listening,

All of your track performances are standout!

Enjoyed it,

Beautiful piano parts, and I like how you fade the different instruments in and out, a bit like in prog music.
Amazing drum parts, even if the drums sound a bit thin and artificial in places.
Overall, one of the best instrumentals I've heard here in a long time.

Hi Mike,

I don't typically comments on instrumentals because it's not my area of expertise but I really enjoyed this one.

You sure have put a lot of work into it.

I think it could easily be used as a movie sound track.

Well done.

Merry Christmas

Hi, Mike !

Film Music was my first thought !
What a beautiful tune I love those chords
(the progression) ! I have not heard
anything better from you - on the other hand I may
not have heard so much as I´ve been away
for so long !
😘

In any case, this is a masterpiece !

I hope that's not too much information.
Thanks! I've got a bunch of virtual instruments, but I haven't played with the Kontakt Factory Library yet. I probably should, since it was free. smile

And no - with me it's hard to give too much information. Did you write the parts out of paper first, or what? I'm always curious about people's workflows.

It does sound like incidental music to a movie.
Plenty of variety. I could imagine many scenerios.
Well done.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
