DON'T MISS LOVE

i asked her out for coffee
she said "how 'bout margaritas instead?"
one thing leads to another
tuesday 2pm we're still in bed
you never know how forever may begin
or when your best laid plans
might take it on the chin

   don't be afraid
   to take the chance
   make your move
   join the dance
   don't be afraid
   don't miss love

that first night was unexpected
we've shared more than we can count since then
no telling what's around the corner
stay open to any where or when
'cause out of the blue
love takes you by surprise
you'll know it in your heart
you'll see it in her eyes

   don't be afraid
   to take the chance
   make your move
   join the dance
   don't be afraid
   don't miss love

Type something.

Hello Floyd
Very nice song
Your great vocals are embedded in an excellent background track
Do you also play the solo guitar ?
Your piano playing sounds really good
And the lyrics have a great and true message.
An all around great production
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Floyd,

This absolutely beautiful... Your piano playing is very inspiring. You have a great touch with the keys.

Your vocal is superb and the mix is crystal clear. So well done. I also love the tempo and your phrasing in this song - you know your way around emotive arrangements.

Loved it all!

Everything sounds right for the song.
The piano part is the star for me though...def. something RTs can't manage.
The narrative is as poignant as the arrangement.

Give it to Elton John and it'll be in the charts.
Wonderful.
Love the piano!
I was kind of expecting a BIG chorus at the end, but after listening I realized that this would take the song in a completely different direction.
I LOVE the melancholy I feel during the outro.

Spendid piano, Floyd. Next journey I reccomend some reeds. Good golly, man, this is so pretty. I really like the lyrics, the simple production, the subtle yet strongly supporting BGVs. Don't Miss Love --> great advice.

"i asked her out for coffee
she said "how 'bout margaritas instead?" and that's when you fell in love.

You have an incredible knack for making your songs so relatable, starting with lyrics that speak to mind and heart, then lay them over the perfect melody to please the ears, and accompany them all with the best instruments to convey the feeling, then master the production to a professional level of excellence. A near-impossible songwriter's roadmap to follow, but always an enjoyable journey to explore.

Enjoy whatever happens!

FJ,
smooth tune. Minimalistic, but very tasteful. Very nice piano work! You don't need 3rd party for that smile
Well composed and sung. Mix is very clear. Good one.
Thank you for sharing.

Very pretty major sevenths and piano playing. Guitar fits right in.

Of course, your vocal is stellar as always. You really know how to bring a lyric to life. Gotta say - I was so focused on the lyric that I barely noticed what was in the arrangement.

So... excellent arrangement as well, because it kept me focused on the vocal. laugh

This new journey is paying dividends in a big way. Your minimalistic style is perfect for the contemplative nature of the melody and lyric. Good choice of complimentary instruments and of course the mix is perfect. Great vocal. A major league player who is always in my starting lineup. Happiest of New Years, Tom

HI Floyd

Simplicity with elegance isn't as easy to do as one might think. But you pull it off to perfection. As Ray mentioned, the piano is the star - and I'll add, of a beautifully written piece of music. I enjoyed every note, every word - everything. That's one helluva song!

Happy New Year,

Alan & Di

Hi Floyd,

Loved the piano! It really makes the song IMHO. Also loved that Brent fills RT, perfect for the song.

I'm hearing artifacts of some sort throughout the vocal track in a couple of places, and I don't think it's at my end although no one else has mentioned it.
For example check "you never know where forever might begin". Very noticeable on the word "where".

Excellent vocal and lyric of course, and a most enjoyable listen!

Hi there Floyd,
Clever timing change in the chorus section (ie lines 2 and 3 come at you quicker than you'd expect!)
Lead vocal very accomplished
I’m having real problems with the verse melody line (must be that maj7)
Mix is nicely constructed – sure there was no room for some very light drum/percussion?

Well done on this one!
All the best, Marc

Reeds? I had a soprano sax for a while. I learned it well enough to noodle and play fills as a song played. (of course I learn the signature lick from Baker Street).
Someone borrowed it and I never got it back.
Just as well.

BTW what keyboard (piano) and strings are you using in this? They are exquisite! One of your best vocal performances IMO.

Splendid! You've got a fine touch on the piano, don't stop whatever you're doing. Super song, great vocals and backing track. The fills on that guitar RT are really nice, and fit right in. Just a superb concept, expertly conceived and executed.

Floyd, you play one hell of a piano, it fit this song perfectly.
Great vocal and lyrics, as usual.
Great mix.
This line really hit home for me as it was that way when I met my wife 60 years ago,"you never know how forever may begin"!

Loved it.

Beautiful.

The piano and guitar interplay is so good.
The cello and your strings are to quote Janice, “warm and comforting.”

And we second all the great accolades regarding your piano performance.

You really outdid yourself (no small feat) on the vocals. Powerful stuff.

The excellent mix allows every little nuance to have its place on the soundstage.
And that is hard to achieve and too often ignored.

Nothing left to say but a big old WOW!

Very well crafted tune. The only thing I would suggest is to change "2pm" with "afternoon" but the rest flows like a gentle breeze. Well done.

Those are, in fact, artifacts. The harmony was a generated 3rd below. I thought I had pull down all the spots where that happens. Apparently not...

Thanks, Dan. That's encouraging coming from someone who plays piano and strings...
The piano I play is a Yamaha P-85.
The piano sound comes from the EZKeys2 grand. (I had to reduce the bottom and increase the highs considerably).
The strings are a patch from Philharmonik 2...

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
