HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone. Hope you all had amazing festivities, and that the New Year is, at last, an improvement upon the previous one. May you all be ever more creative, because - to me, at least - that's what matters. Here's my first song of the New Year. I hope you like it, but all comments are very welcome. Thanks for listening! Heartbeat EDIT: here's Take 2, using the Panagement plug-in, per David Cuny's very kind suggestion. I think it's much better, but see what you think? Happy New Year, James. Absoluetly correct on what matters --creativity. And you've created a doozie here. [Doozie: noun meaning awesome piece of that Delsono musical charm.] Man, the music for this is really cool. Well written, sir. I like the quick changes, and you know I'd like that universal language you developed for the lyrics. Seriously, this is a wonderful start for 2024. Love it, James. Or as you might say, "Rumpa pumpa pum."

Hi James. I thought when your voice kicked in it was going to be a song like The Little Drummer Boy. Maybe it could still be. Some of the chord changes sound a little strange but generally I like the sound.
Happy New Year to you.

Inspired madness. I enjoyed the listen but have no idea why it worked for me. The harmonic progression was unsettling, but in a cool way. Reminds me of a John Cage quote, "“I am trying to be unfamiliar with what I'm doing.” Can't wait for the next one...

Hi, James. For a terrifying moment, I thought it might be a cover of The Little Drummer Boy. But no, just a song that proves again I spend too much time sweating over lyrics. It was easy listening, but perhaps you might give some thought to putting the vocal into the same space as the instruments. I'd suggest having a look at Panagement. It's free and it works in BiaB. You can also use it to "place" other instruments in space, but I particularly like what it does to vocals. Happy New Year!

B.D. Thomas: I didn't know my approach is Dadaist - but I can see why you said that. Thanks! Bob: thanks!!! Marty: Haha. Thanks so much ... pum pum . Seriously, thanks ... really appreciate such nice words! Vic: thanks. I wasn't thinking of Little Drummer Boy ... I just got the rhythm of that snare drum which appears when I don't sing, and created a sung line on top ... that was literally it Thanks for your really nice words! Ron: "inspired madness" could be said for most of my songs, I think! Glad you still enjoyed it, though. It's always a lottery with me ... it takes me time, after the completion of a song, to see if I do like it, or if I think I was wasting my time with it. So, all in all, this is a positive result, that you liked it - so thanks David C: Panagement looks perfect! I've had a look at it, haven't had a chance to download and use it, yet ... but will do asap, and post the end result here, for all to hear Couple of days, hopefully, at most. Thanks for the heads-up!!! EDIT: I got off my lazy behind and made the change, with the Panagement plug-in. Here's Take 2 ... thanks David, the voice (to my ears, at least) sounds much more "in the mix" now. See what you think, though? Heartbeat (Take 2)

My first understatement of 2024: "That is different!" DC Ron's Cage quote was evocative, “I am trying to be unfamiliar with what I'm doing.” The cords, the rumpas and the session guys all served up a big break from the routine irrespective of genre. Fascinating, J&B

You sketched a good melody I would love to hear it applied to a set of your lyrics.

Hi James,
Well, that was a little different. I never would have of that lyric! Everything rhymed!
I always like your creativity. There are many things you offer us listeners, but disappointment is not one of them. Keep posting and I'll keep listening.
Wishing you the very best,
Alan

James that was very different but well played. It was nice to hear your vocal up front. I didn't listen to the original post but this one sounds great. You vocal was so clear that I didn't need to see the lyrics. This one was so different than any other song posted that I have to love it, and I do.

Janice and Bud: glad you enjoyed it, even though yes, it is kind of different Ray: I'm not too sure about adding lyrics, simply because I was mimicking a heartbeat. But I may re-use the tune in other songs, and, if so, I may add lyrics to it. Thanks for listening!!! Alan: thanks. Ever so kind, as always! floyd: haha thanks!!! Mario: too kind. Thank you!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
