Hi,
1. Can I install Band-in-a-Box *entirely* on an external SSD?
2. How do I get my new Band-in-a-Box Pro 2024 to see all the content from my old Band-in-a-Box Ultra 2017?
I should mention that l'll be installing to a Windows 10 laptop from the 23 individual files I downloaded manually.
Thank you

Hi Tony, The best way to to keep a previous version of BIAB is to install the newer version directly over the top of the older version. For example, if everything to do with 2017 was installed on c:\bb then install install your 2024 version into that same directory/folder. When you have everything installed, you could then copy the whole c:\bb folder onto a SSD and run the program from there. Once you are satisfied that everything copied over okay, you could delete c:\bb. After you've done this, you might need to add paths for Realdrums and Realtracks, but that's very straightforward. I hope this helps. --Noel ★ a recent song of mine: Rise And Shine

Hi Noel, I followed your advice and it worked spectacularly well. Thank you so much! As a result I freed-up nearly 24GB of space on my system drive. And everything works just great. On a separate note, I listened to your track "Rise And Shine" and while hearing the chorus I thought it would benefit from some backing vocals; particularly female. You can create remarkably good vocals (lead and background) with Synthesizer V. A free/trial version of the editor can be downloaded from here. You can also get a few free 'lite' versions of several SynthV voicebanks. Solaria is quite versatile so you might want to start with her (which you can get here ). Cheers...

Hi Tony, I'm glad it all worked out for you. Freeing up 24 GB is great Thanks for listening to my song, too. I haven't tried putting any background vocals in it. When I revisit it, I'll give it a shot! Just recently I started playing around with Synth V. It's an incredible vocal synthesiser. I've been super impressed with what I've managed to do. If you're interested, below are two song I wrote and used vocaloids with. "The Best Gift Of All" is Natalie singing against a guitar accompaniment, and "Every Single Day" is a Natalie/Kevin arrangement modelled on Kenny Rogers' and Dolly Parton's approach to duets. All the best, --Noel ★ my latest song: The Best Gift Of All (Thank You, Mama) – vocals by Synthesizer V ★ a recent song of mine: Every Single Day (a duet using Synthesizer V’s vocaloids, Kevin & Natalie)

Hi Noel,
I really like The Best Gift Of All; it's very sweet. Natalie's voice is almost unrecognizable. It sounds like you either lowered her formants or shifted her gender a bit to the male side. That makes sense given the nature of the song. It sounds more 'genuine' and heartfelt the way you have it.
As for Every Single Day, I like the song and Natalie's voice, but don't really care for Kevin's voice; it's too 'stiff' and artificial. I recently bought Saros and am glad I did because he's the female analog of Solaria in that he's very versatile. If you have that voicebank you might want to try him instead of Kevin.
Cheers...

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
