The Old One Two Been a while since I posted one of mine & Leon's songs, so here's one about boxing (sort of). Leon - Vocals I played guitar and sang a little. Band in a Box Bass, drums and acoustic guitar. The Old One TwoThe old one two What a combination Didn’t see it coming You put me down First you stole my heart Then you grabbed my soul You hit me where I live You took me down Rolled me around on the canvass Let me stagger to my feet Vainly I tried to get my hands up But your science was too sweet The old one two I let my guard down Screwed up my eyes Stuck out my chin I trusted you Just like some first-time fool Who’d never stepped Inside the ring You danced around me on the canvass Let me stagger to my feet Vainly I tried to get my hands up But your science was too sweet Bridge You got me reeling, black and blue Still I’m hopelessly in love with you Punch drunk and jelly-kneed You’re still the one, you’re still the one I need The old one two What a combination Didn’t see it coming You put me down First you stole my heart Then you grabbed my soul You hit me where I live You took me down Rolled me around on the canvass Let me stagger to my feet Vainly I tried to get my hands up But your science was, your science was, your science was too sweet

Hey guys, good stuff here. I liked the BGV's and I really liked the intro. It got me interested right away. I wasn't too sure about the "science was too sweet" line, but sure liked that line about being punch drunk and jellied kneed. Good concept for a song.

Peter/Leon, my kind of song. Yeah, this is about the real "sweet science" for sure. Love the arrangement! Super bridge and a cool solo (pinch harmonics!) before wrapping it all up with more solo guitar on the outro. Looking forward to hearing more!

Hi Peter,
You and Leon create some real nice music! Love your play on words, here. I really enjoyed the transitions from verse to chorus and back - nice! Great song!
Take care,
Alan

A song that put a wry smile on my face. Leon sings it so well, with the same quality of "wisdom and wryness" in the voice. The production and performance are flawless, the lyrics original and very relatable to, the music writing so well done, in the same spirit. Well done, both of you.

Pugilistic analogies of relationships....interesting. Enjoyable lyrics due to the "word pictures". Musically solid too. Well done chaps - thoroughly fab.

Great idea for a song you two. I was waiting for a "boxed in" line but it didn't need it. Well done.

Peter and Leon, this is so fine. I really like the arrangement, melody and lyrics. Leon your vocals are perfect --each and every note with conviction. Peter, yeow, you rip your way through any piece in front of you and add so much to the feeling. More. More.

A song with Punch. Nice groove. Always enjoy a Leon vocal - it always has a smile somewhere behind it... Good guitar work. A workin' man's solo. Solid. Well mixed.

Hi, Peter and Leon. That's got to be one of the gentlest songs about getting one's heart pummeled to bits that I've ever heard. Easy-going loping beat, pleasant backing, cheerful vocal. Nice!

Good song, I especially like the lyrics and their delivery. And I LOVE that gritty guitar sound below the lead guitar. That's the good stuff!

Yes, it's been a while. Good to hear another from you two. I like the extended metaphor. Clever. Guitar solo is awesome. Leon's vocal is spot on and has the right feel for the song. I enjoyed it much.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
