Someone Said Whiskey on Soundcloud Someone Said Whiskey on YouTube A song about growing up while keeping laughter in your life. Style is _BAKHOME.STY (Back Home Basic Ctry Swing Waltz) RealTracks in style: ~1700:Piano, Acoustic, Rhythm CountryWaltz Sw 085 RealTracks in style: ~827:Guitar, Acoustic, Strumming Country Waltz Sw 110 RealTracks in song: 4154:Guitar, Baritone Electric, Rhythm NashvilleWaltzMelodicTremolo Sw 120 RealTracks in song: 2216:Guitar, Resonator, Soloist CountryWaltzRob Sw 085 (Bluesy) RealDrums in style:NashClassicWaltzSw^1-a:SideStick, HiHat , b:Snare, Ride I played bass and that godawful honky-tonk piano properly detuned. Someone Said WhiskeyWhen I was younger I laughed all the time. I didn't care for nuthin', and I was just fine. But they made me grow up, and I had to pay. All of the fun stuff was taken away. But then Someone said whiskey and I heard the call. They passed me a bottle and I drank it all. We drank to our troubles till quarter to three. Someone said whiskey and whiskey called me. Next day I woke up and swam through my room. I went to the closet to fetch me a broom. I cleaned up the worst slipp'ry mess that we made. I couldn't see much, so I rasied the shade. "Close that!" Someone said whiskey. We gathered around. They passed me the bottle, and I drank it down. We drank to our troubles and set them all free. Someone said whiskey and whiskey saved me. [ Well, they say with age comes wisdom. I don't know nuthin' about that. But I DO know that all my drinkin' buddies started dying off. So I got to thinking, "Maybe I gotta quit this drinkin'." You know, get on with some easy llivin'.] Now that I'm older I laugh all the time. I care less for whiskey cuz ice tea's just fine. Someone said whiskey. I said what's the point. They drank from the bottle while I smoked a joint. We laughed without troubles. The day was complete. Someone said whiskey but I was asleep –dreaming of my horseshoe, Lucky. WONDERFUL!!! Hahahahahaha. Made me really, really smile and chuckle out loud, throughout. I love your sense of humor, together with such a professional presentation. The spoken section is top notch, every word is perfectly intoned. The sung sections are wonderful; you have a light kind of voice, perfect for this kind of song, perfect to make one smile whilst also seeing the serious side of things. The snoring, at the end, took me totally by surprise and had me in hoots of laughter. BRAVO. You make people so happy with your music, no matter whether serious or on the lighter side. The video is simply brilliant. That poor overturned otter or seal, or whatever you call that one ... aww And cleaning up the mess with surgical gloves - fab Is that you, on the video, in the spoken section? Wonderful - especially the unfocused moments, haha ... brilliant WELL DONE. Thank you ever so much for sharing

I never thought I'd see/hear it, but the bluesman has become a Country outlaw! Don' t worry you pulled it off just fine!Your piano playing was just fine to my ears and the de-tuned sound fit quite alright! The snoring at the end was unexpected but had me smiling! You are a talented fellow! Take care, TB

Marty, if you hadn't mentioned that you play the piano, I would have guessed this was a RealTrack. Pretty good work, Pianoman.
Wonderful lyrics. The speaking part is excellent. Love it!

Marty, I can't really comment on the tone of things due to hardware probs. The song is a cracker...many of us have reached for a little chemical help to regain our disinhibited youth. On my current set up the vocal needs a little top end to sit a little higher in the mix but it's probably fine on decent gear. Good narrative, funny ending to a really good song. The honky tonk, bass & vocals are the stand outs.

Yeah, that seal seemed perfect for the waking up part. Yeah, that's me in the vid. Our graddaughter Charely is also in there saying, "Close that." After she recorded her part we ad libbed a cave story with super reverb on the mic. Hi Marty. These lyrics are well writ and fun and I love the 3/4 time.
Vic Thanks, Vic. That waltz time is intended to give it a wobbly leg feel. Marty

I prefer your song to Whiskey. I drank too much one day in high school and I haven't been able to drink it since. Bravo Marty Me, too, Laurent. For me it was vodka in high school. Never did the whiskey thing. Cabernet snob now. Marty, simply sublime! A perfect song, expertly backed and craftily sung (in the best way). Man, the bar just keeps going up for you... Thanks, Ron. The bar gets higher? Coffeeshops are better than bars. The bassist plays piano and sings country! What is this world coming to? I'll tell ya, more outstanding music from BabuMusic. Yeah, I know, every noteworthy songwriter should write a country song about whiskey, unfortunately mine is still under construction, although I have already the title Congratulations for your successful entry in that category! Really funny, punchlines well timed and hilarious, what's the point And the video made me burst into laughter. A classic song, hopefully one of those that you and your humor will be remembered for for millennia 3/4 works perfectly, the instrument selection is very pleasant and nothing bad to say about vocals and bass either. Keep laughing and keep making us laugh Janne PS. Your new album is great!

Marty,
Whiskey is wonderful, isn't it? I also love whiskey. On a daily basis, I drink Scotches such as Old Parr, Ballentine's, Dewa'rs, Bell's, Teacher's, Johnnie Walker and etc. On special occasions, I have single malts such as Talisker and etc. Of course, I also love bourbons like Jack Daniel's, I.W. Harper, Wild Turky, Maker's Mark, and etc. Oops, I almost forgot to comment on the music. Both the song and the video are full of love for whisky. Enjoyed my listen and watch a lot.
Best regards.

Hi Marty,
I find this a very interesting angle for a song! And then your performance in the video was great! I wouldn't dare to mention that 'W' word again. Well actually I'm no fan of that stuff. I prefer the 'R' word as you know (R means rum, for all outsiders...). Have I said it's a lovely melody with good lyrics and your humor?

I'm often either stuck or lost for words on this forum, but this is just yet another really good song, lyrically and musically. The video is great, too, and I love your talkie bit! That works a treat.
Some favourite Waoist Adages: #1: Play on the Way. #17: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you. #69: Bring consciousness to it. #74: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made. #105: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Hey, don't be asking me for keyboard parts when you can play like that! Thanks, Dan. Yeah, whiskey and I never got along either. I pretty much do the Jesus thing every day. Start out with water, then change it to wine at night. Ha! A couple octaves doesn't make me a piano player. If I had chops like yours, I'd probably still ask cuz you got such good taste. Strings, too! Thanks so much for that, m'man. In the car I pretty much only listen to the folks from this forum. I've looked for you in the past without success. If you are somewhere (other than Soundcloud), please let me know. Marty,

Shigeki Adachi Thanks, Shigeki. You remind me of a friend I wrote with and played in bands with for 6 decades. Man, he loved his Glenfiddich single malt. I don't kow whiskey, but in one song I needed an expensive drink that rhymed with house, and found Famous Grouse. Ever try it?

Marty,
Famous Grouse, it's nostalgic for me. When I was in my late 20s, the house whiskey at the bar I frequented was Famous Grouse, so I drank it often. I still drink it sometimes. It is a Scotch with a very unique flavor compared to Ballantine's and Dewar's. So I drink Ballantine's and Dewar's on a daily basis. Glenfiddich is also my favorite Scotch. And whiskey is the source of my music production.
Best regards.

Well, laughter is the best medicine, isn’t it?! The audio and video are great, Marty, and your country persona is a delight. The recitation was perfect and we enjoyed your cameo in the vid. Oh, and the yawning seal really was a scene stealer. 😊
The baritone and resonator guitars with your honky tonk piano fit well. Excellent bass (of course) and your country vocals are a hit.
We do enjoy a good bourbon but stick to one drink instead of a bottle. 😆
The ending was a fun surprise. Cool!

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
