My least favourite of my compositions, which I nearly scrapped until I found a late-coming voice for Orla Swoon! It remained untitled for ages before I completed it as I couldn't find a single guitar solo that worked with it and it was only the Britt Savage vocal that saved it from the bin. It's been more popular on FB than I expected, plus it ends a little differently to the average track.

Drums: Cay Island Steel Drum Soloist ~Wes Little
Tabla: Tap Table Pop ~ Shobhit Banwait
Kalimba: World Beat 2 South African Dance ~ uncredited
Bass: Country Rock Guitar Solo Pop Band ~ Tobin Frank
Marimba: Cay Island Steel Drum ~ Todd London
Rhythm Guitar #1: Country Rock Guitar Solo Pop Band ~ Darin Favorite
Rhythm Guitar #2: Jovian Divine Alt Rock Soloing ~ Mike Durham
Organ: Country Rock Guitar Solo Pop Band ~ Gene Rabbai
Piano Solo: Giggle Rumba Pop AC Piano Solo ~ John Jarvis
Rhythm Piano: Cape Breton Piano Reel ~ Troy MacGillivray
Harmonica Solos: Vicksburg Harmonica Even-8 Blues ~ L. D. Miller
Organ Solo: King Fast Blues Rock Organ ~ Charles Treadway
Vocal Solo: Rum Runner Old Jazz Vocal Solo ~ Britt Savage

Least favorite? Not for me. I like the intepay with the piano and bass. That harmonica is crazy --good but crazy. I like the way you bring each soloist in and out. Very wel done. Cool dualing harmonicas when the rest of the band left the stage --the drummer held on the longers. Hey, Chay, a least favorite is still a favorite. I really like it.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Chay, very energetic and fun! Love the way you build your backing tracks and then keep them shifting against the lead instruments. This may be a "least favorite" of yours, but I'd give it an A++ for ambition. You really took some big swings with the harmonica and vocal soloists, and I think they work really well. The vocalist coda was a nice unexpected touch. Anyway...enjoyed the listen!

I really like the rhythm and the succession of solos is very well chosen.

This works nicely for me! The mix is great and I love the way you used the harmonicas and vocals - very cool.

Wao,
I think this is actually a pretty GOOD song.
I'd probably remove the steel drum, but that's my only minor nit.

Thanks Marty. I agree re the crazy harmonica. You should check L. D. Miller out on YT: "It's Alright" with Michael Kelsey - he's crazy good - and solo an excellent vocalist and guitarist too on "Balloons".

Thanks Bob. If I hadn't found those vocals I would have scrapped it as I couldn't find anything else which fit the piece.

Thanks BD. I use marimba and kalimba, no steel drum/s as yet. After reading your comment I played it with the marimba and kalimba muted and it could work like that - though I'd have to re-step the intro instruments - but it loses its 'hecticity'.

Hi Wao,

This is not at all an imperfect song!
The anoying thing is I was just searching for instruments and got stuck by the Bongo's. Not really your Marimba and Tabla, but kind of similair.
And the I heard your 'least favorite' song and I thought "Damn, he mowed the grass in front of my feet" (Dutch proverb).
But you did that in a very nice way, together with the organ and harmonica.
So, from now on you call it your most favorite song, don't you?
I will...

Hans

Thanks for your great responses on this one Scott, Hans and Elliot.
Hans, while I'm glad that my lawnmower didn't chop your feet off, this instrumental is still on my B playlist. smile

Chay, an interesting choice of instruments.
I have no idea how you managed to mix them so well!
It may be your least favorite but it is a favorite of mine.
Keep up the great work.

Thanks Floyd and Mario, much appreciated.
Mario, the only instrumentals I like less than "Orla Swoon" are my few non-intrusive soundtrack ones for videos in which the visuals or wordage and visuals were more important. But I do keep finding that what I like most, others aren't so keen on, and what I like least, others like most. … Thinks: Eureka! … I'm gonna write something really crap and it'll be a worldwide hit! laugh

Man, that harmonica is wild - in a good way. Great bass along with many other fine tracks.

The vocals are creative and effective in arrangement.

A lot of tracks to mix and your work sets up a great soundstage on our monitors.

Glad you finished it!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
