Hi all,
Here's a little song about these 3 colors...

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/black-white-yellow-with-solaria

Black White Yellow
Like a little rainbow
Black White Yellow
The sweetest flag I know
Black White Yellow
Like a crow in the snow
Black White Yellow
Waiting for the sun show

Black White Yellow
Let’s deflate our ego
Black White Yellow
From Dakar to Glasgow
Black White Yellow
Let’s dream of this trio
Black White Yellow
From Boston to Tokyo

Amazing how far AI has come in such a short time. I liked what you have done here, love it or not it's a brave new world and you are flying ahead of the aeroplane. Nice work.

Chris,

Very nicely done. It's a great song and the synth voice is realistic.

Good work!

Take care,

Alan

Very cool song.

Yep, it's amazing how far the technology has come in the last year or two.

One of the things that I found uncomfortable to my ear was the phrasing of certain words. Accents in the wrong places etc... That makes this sound a bit robotic and unnatural in a few places.

Working with synth voices requires attention to the details. I have spent quite a bit of time editing several of my synth voice creations to get the phrasing to sound "natural". It's not always easy but it's worth the effort involved. Just remember that you're essentially working with midi and that will default to, in most cases, a very boring and precise rendering, whether it's an instrument or a synth voice. Work on the details and you'll see a huge step up in realism.

Thanks for your comments, Guitarhacker.
It's the first time I use Synthesizer V. So, I know all isn't perfect...
For this song, I just wanted to share the pleasure of my discovering.
I hope I'll have done some progress for the next one!

Hi, Chris.

Sounds nice - good arrangement, and nice vocals.

There are some places where you put the stress on the "wrong" syllable, which makes it sound unnatural. As a rule, the syllable with the stronger stress should get the higher pitch.

One tool that's available is the CMU Pronouncing Dictionary, which is what SynthesizerV was trained on for English pronunciation. There's a Show lexical stress option that will show the stress on each vowel:

0 — No stress
1 — Primary stress
2 — Secondary stress

For example, "SOMEWHERE" has the stress pattern "S AH1 M W EH2 R .", so AH has the primary stress, so whould get a higher pitch.

Anyway, nice song! smile

Vocal control, you say. Never heard of it. Is that some kind of ProTools thing?

"Yep, it's amazing how far the technology has come in the last year or two."
It's not the technology, it is the musicians using it.
Chris, you did a great job with the synth voice, especially since it was the first time.

Really beautiful song! Love the arrangement and the instrument choices.

Thought the synth voices served the song well despite not sounding hyper realistic. I don't find synth voices distracting per se, but I almost always know when I'm listening to them. It's kind of like strings played on a synth. The pronunciations of "Glasgow" (shouldn't rhyme with "cow") and "trio", for example, are telling.

But...the point to me is the song, and I really like it a lot. And I agree that this is a fabulous first effort with synth voices.

Bravo!

Chris,

The way to use various chords such as augment chord, m6th chord, etc. is so nice.
The chord progression is very beautiful.
The melody, which has a bit of melancholy to it, is also wonderful.
Synth V's vocals are also effective.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks for your comment, WaoBand.
Just for information, I corrected the pronunciation of some words sung by Solaria.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
