Some Songs
Some songs are overdone and some not done enough.
Some songs are full of hate and some so full of love.
But the songs that still excite my soul
are the ones I sing with you.
Sappy songs with sibilant sounds somehow ring more true.

Memories of the good times we all share
come alive when we hear some songs.

Some songs remind of how our life once used to be.
Some songs will show us signs of what love can foresee.
Padiddle lights on eerie nights, the FM channel on.
We drive around on country roads still singin' our old song.

Some songs are made for us, and some we make ourselves.
Some songs collect no dust, and some sit on the shelves.
But the songs we sing in harmony
are the ones we hold most dear.
Songs bring out the best of life
that mem'ries need to hear.

Memories of the best times of our lives
stay alive when we hear some songs. Some songs.

Interesting and well thought out lyric, Marty.
I hope you don't mind a suggestion that you consider changing the line:
Memories of the good times we all share
come alive when we hear some songs,
to something like:
Memories of the good times we all share
mixed up with those thoughts of times we found so hard to bear.

I just thought there may be too many "some songs" going on.

Marty, cool song! Love your vocals and bass, and the band fits right in. The choice to feature the fiddle really underscored the longing nostalgia in the lyrics. Masterful job, again!

Marty,

What a nice song! Loved the video, too!

The lyric really shines I like what it says. And then there's the terrific vocal and great bass line. Many years ago i wrote a song about how songs play with our memory to tell the story of our lives. Maybe I'll pout some BIAB tracks with it and see where it goes. I love it when a song inspires me to give some of my songs another look. Thanks for that!

That was a great listen! Of course, thta's no surprise.

Take care,

Alan

I always like songs about songs, and yours is no exception, Marty.
I _slightly_ disagree with some lines (memories of the bad times also come alive in some songs and are also worth mentioning), but that's just my darker side showing.
LOVE your vocals (I can hear the smile on your face), and your band sounds really good.

Wow Marty...a fiddle and an acoustic guitar (it gives me chills)...I love it!...so, this is different and again shows the eclectic and muti-stylistic mind of a mad-man ( I mean genius of coarse)...I love the topic, the sentiment and the gist of the whole thing...so keep writing them, producing them and singing them for us...PLEASE!

Great song Marty and loved your choice of instruments. I thought the melody really shined and fit the words well. It drew me in right from the start - way to go.

Mind? OMG, I thrive because of comments and suggestions by all of you on this forum --both to me and to others. I actually thought that there are too many "some songs" in this one, but then I went with the advertising ploy of just repeating the brand over and over so folks will remember it. hehe I like your suggestion for two reasons: it ryhmes and it brings out the fact that songs often bring back the bad memories too. Thanks so much, Vic. Please keep your suggestions coming.

Thanks, Ron. Glad we think alike about the fiddle. For some vague reason I thought the same thing about its nostalgic value.

“But the songs we sing in harmony

Yes! Harmony in life is precious.
Your song brought back many memories for us and the video is most cool, especially the cameos.

The fiddle was great and the autoharp also fit the nostalgic mood.

The mix features the smooth vocal and fine supportive bass so well.

Love it!

Nice write and production. And your vocals always add to the meaning.

Sappy songs with sibilant sounds somehow ring more true.

Marty, very creative indeed!
The violin gave it a slight country vibe to my ears.
Professionally done . . . as always.
Great job.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

This is just a brilliant, gorgeous song, Marty! Great lyrics, great music, and that fiddles was the perfect choice for the lead instrument. 5 Star music! … Love the video, too.

Haha, that alliteration line was especially for the folks on this forum. Until I came here, I just made demos of my songs so other people can do them. I didn't even know the word s"sibilence." Thanks, floyd. Haha. I should make a video of me singing a track. I look weirder than Joe Cocker, and that's why I can't play and sing together. It would make good comedy.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
