I am wanting to export a Realtrack sax solo. It has reverb. I want to export it dry.

I cannot figure out how to do this? Is it possible to make a Realtrack dry?

Regards,
Lance

In RealTrack Preferences there is a checkbox for 'Add Reverb to RealTracks'.

Thanks Rachael.

I unchecked the "Add reverb to realtracks" in the Realtrack preferences. However, when I listen to the playback in BB "587:Sax, Tenor, 2-Beat Rock Ev 110" I still hear the reverb tails.

Are Realtracks recorded dry by default?

Also, in Reverb preferences I turned off:
Enable Reverb Global
Enable Reverb (this song only)
Auto-Add Reverb to Realtracks. I set strength to 0%.

In Override Preferences I unchecked "allow loading of any of these settings"

Regards,
Lance

It is my understanding that the tracks are 'dry'. I still have 2013 but if you click on the part (Bass, Piano, etc), there is a spinner for 'A. Reverb'. It is in the row that has Volume, Pan, etc. Make sure that is 0.

If still no joy, try Rendering the song with 'One Wave File per Track' checked. That should be dry regardless of any other settings (I think).

Again, thanks for the assistance.

I do have the reverb slider at zero but to no avail.

Also, I tried the render method and the track still has reverb.

I am going to assume at this point that the realtrack is not necessary recorded dry.

If additional solutions are known by anyone please share them.

Thanks again Rachael.

Some certain few RealTracks from the early days may not have a dry file included with them, so they just may have been recorded Wet.

Dry files entered the scene later, due to customer demands requests.

Go into the RealTracks folder, locate the Sax you are using, raw files, and listen to them with WMP or another software capable of playing back .wma or .wav files.

If the 'verb is on the raw RealTracks file in use, you can't adjust it or turn it off.

Hi Lance,

If you have the 2014 version of Band in a Box then go to the Master Radio Button (at the top of the screen) and right click on it and select Set Mix to Dry, Flat, Center.

If you have 2013 Version same thing applies except Master is called Combo.

It may help or not depending on what Mac said above.

George

Hi Lance,

Lots of good ideas here from some good people.

One thing that occurred to me was, is the sax track frozen? I'm not sure if effects are also frozen when 'freeze' is applied to a track.

If would be worth generating the track in Realband to see if reverb exists there. (Simply open you .sgu or .mgu song file in Realband.)

Realband will take a minute of so to generate the song when you open it because it works differently to BIAB.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks everyone.

Mac nailed it. The raw files are wet so I am stuck in this case.

It is nice to know that there is an easy way to determine if the reverb can be removed or not.

Lance

Reviving an old thread here... Today I tried to generate a dry version of the Guitar, Electric, Rhythm, JazzFunkGroovin EV16, 110. After not getting it to work (and trying all the things listed above) I found this thread. I'm on BIAB 2024 Ver 1111. Is it still possible that after 10 years this is still the case with some of the real tracks? I would really like to use my own reverbs!!
Thanks,

I can't see a Direct Input option for that guitar.
If you have Reaper, to get the original recordings without any added FX you can use the BBPlugin in Reaper using Instructions only, this will load the source files direct with no processing.
You also have an option of using:
Working In Biab & Reaper Simultaneously and Instantly
or Open SGU in Reaper

But even if I freeze the track it still has reverb on it. I don't think there is a dry version of the realtrack.

You can try some reverb removal VSTs

I played the source files for that RealTrack and it has a lot of reverb.
This is why Direct Input only guitars are the way to go as you can add any FX you like to them, and rather than having 2 versions that take up more hard drive space, as down the track PG will have a lot of RealTracks.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
