Here's the second song I did (in Jan 2010) with the PG Music software. This song is interesting in that I wrote it in a completely different way than I've ever written a song before. First I came up with the progression, then I typed that into BIAB and tried it with several different styles before settling on *_SUG_SX at a tempo of a 102bpm. I then spent several days working on an idea or a hook and writing the lyrics and melody, then I came up with the intro lick and twin part solo and put the whole thing together in RB. Wow what a fun, new, refreshing way to write a song. I'm currently working on my second song using this technique and I encourage others to try it if they haven't. Anyway, all track are RT's and all vocals & guitar solo's (except acoustic) are me. Listening now there are a few structural changes I would make to the song, and the vocals probably got too much echo, but I'm still pretty proud of it... for my second go. All comments welcome. Hope you enjoy, Greg http://www.mymusicstream.com/gregachord/song-8407218676892.htmlWords & Music: Greg Achord 1/2010 Road Away From Me intro 4 bars I never thought you could be / The only one that would matter to me You keep me sane away from the edge / Feet on the ground I'm lookin ahead Livin life as it rolls on by / I really doubt there's a luckier guy Do I deserve what I found in you / Prob'ly not don't mean it's not true So don't take the road away from me / Don't leave me to walk it alone again Don't take the road away from me / Cause your love is all I have known Solo 2 bars When we first met I sure didn't know / How far we'd come or how high we'd go The spark was there would the flame burn on / Would love grow would love be strong Life’s a test best not met alone / Find someone and build you a home If your lucky you'll end up like me / And find the one for eternity So don't take the road away from me / Don't leave me to walk it alone again Don't take the road away from me / Cause your love is all I have known solo 24 bars Thinkin back I just can't believe / From where we came what we'd achieve Some looked down they just didn't know / They couldn't see how love could grow Without you there right by my side / I'd have fallen alone I'd have died You build me up and keep me strong / Lovin you it could never be wrong So don't take the road away from me / Don't leave me to walk it alone again Don't take the road away from me / Cause your love is all I have known Outro Fade

Isn't it just wonderful to have PG Music guide you on new paths in your musical experience. I like trying new genres I have never tried before (It can be a tough learning curve - but great fun) you should try it By the way, very good song.
Keep em' coming

Enjoyed this one, Greg. Nice clean production and assured vox. Maybe I would have gone for a slightly shorter solo interlude but this in no way detracts from what is a well constructed song.

This is very good, great flow and a super mix. Your vox is perfect and your guitar is awesome, it fits like a glove.
Two thumbs up.

Michee, Marc & Mario- Thanks for taking the time to listen and for your nice comments. Marc, I agree the solo's seems a little long and I really wish I would have cut the intro lick after the solo's & before the 3rd verse in half. (Like the opening one) I'm trying to pay closer attention to my song structure at the beginning of the project now, so I don't get to the end and think dang it I wish I would or wouldn't have done that. Thanks again guys, Greg

Hi Greg,
I enjoyed the listen. You've got a great mix happening and a very assured performance. Like you, I find BIAB has opened up a whole heap of songwriting doors that would have remained closed otherwise. It's brilliant software.
All the best, Noel

Thanks Noel, I'm just about finished with my latest song project. I used the same technique on it as I used on this one. For me it involves using a lot more planning, and thinking about various aspects of the song WHILE I'm writing it. That's so different from the way I've traditionally written songs. I'm thinking maybe it gives inspiration (the muse) a chance to work on different parts of the song at different times... If we're Lucky! Greg

Hi, Greg -
This was great. I loved the concept of the song and you just nailed it. It's weird, because like Marc, I thought the solos went on a little long, but by the same token, I felt that I also wanted more, because I was enjoying it so much. Maybe you need a recorded version and then a live version, where the solos can just stretch out. Anyway, I loved it.

Can't get the song to play. It just wants me to buy it. How do you just listen to it?

Click on the little right pointing triangle icon (like on a VCR machine) to play it.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
