Hi All, Here's a new song call "Autumn Coming Down" - created in BIAB w/RT. Thanks for listening and hope you enjoy it. Bob http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9917822The leaves are blowing round in the alley Birds headed south for the rally Count ‘em off and take a tally Flying past the moon She’s looking back on a life she found Returning to a familiar town And getting ready for autumn coming down Daddy he was a man of music Give him a verse and he’ll use it Playing his guitar just to prove it Remembering the words Cigarette butt on the hard cold ground The night has quietly come unwound Smoke is rising and autumn’s coming down See the clouds just drifting by What’s behind them way up high? It’s all the summers And times gone by That’ll live forever In the memories of the mind Now when the night is long His spirit comes along She knows she’s not alone Safe within his heart Piano bench and an old LeMans Hands in his pockets and half a frown He’s keeping watch with autumn coming down

Hi Bob,enjoyed the song but the lyric which was really well thought out could have been a poem.I like you overall sound listening to it through my nearfield studio monitors.Perhaps you would pm me with how and what you used to get that nice reverb sound on your vocal and the overall mix of the song.Enjoyed it.Thanks Frankie

Frankie, thanks very much for the kind words.
For the overall sound, I exported the finished track from BIAB into my Tascam DP-008 digital recorder. From there, I record the vocals and perform the final mix. For the vocals in this song, I doubled some of the parts (end of each verse and bridge) and then added a touch of reverb from the Tascam (Hall 1). I also used a little reverb on the instrumental track as well - just to fill it out a bit.

thanks bob.Ive got the roland vs-880 xpanded for mix down and also record my vocals and internal effects on it but never get the quality of sound as you did on your track .Ive also got the yamaha rev 500 so I might try and use that for my vocal and overall mix.. guess I will have to study a little bit harder.Cheers Frankie

Frankie, thanks again. You should be able to get some great results with the vs-880 - that's a great machine.

Hello my friend,
I was wondering if you could help me? I just got the TASCAM DP-008 to add vocals to my BIAB songs. I am pretty new to both BIAB and the DP-008 and don't know how to move the finished BIAB song to the DP-008 so I can then add vocals on to another track. Could I get some advice?
Thanks in advance!
James

Hi James,
Wow! This is an old thread! LOL!
I no longer use the DP-008 and have transitioned to a Mac and GarageBand. The easiest way to get your BIAB track into the Tascam is to use your line-out jack on the PC (usually the headphone jack) and go straight into the DP-008 line-in and record the track. Just watch your levels on the Tascam and make sure you don't peak the lights into the red - I would usually set the levels on the Tascam around 1 for recording the BIAB track and set the level on the PC line-out at a decent volume level.
You'll need to play around with it a bit to get the desired sound you want.
Hope this helps.
Bob

I must have missed this the first time around.
I’m sure glad I caught it this time.
Another first class production from rsdean.
Two thumbs up.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
