A midi file is a small file that is instructions that a midi player understands and performs the instructions from the midi file. A midi file makes no sound of its own. When you render the midi file to the MP3, it renders using the midi instructions and not the BIAB changes you made.

The tempo is embedded with cc commands that actually control the tempo with midi instructions. You will need to open the midi file in a sequencer and address your tempo changes there.
