I was speaking with a writer friend of mine about a style of speaking that we were looking at for lyrics. Does anyone know the term for when someone asks a question only to answer it themselves?

An example as said by one person...

"Do I want another hamburger? You know I do!"

"Am I going to have another hamburger? No I am not!"

The do this instead of just saying something like...

"I want another hamburger but I'm not going to have one."

What is this called? (I'm unable to answer it myself wink )

Personally, I call it annoying, but I'm fairly certain that's not the right term...only a description smile That being said, many people talk this way, so it may be useful in a song.
