Today's modern jazz bass playing is highly influenced by Dave Holland. He often plays grooves (arpeggio's or triads, quartals sometimes) that are repeated steadily with small changes. This is mostly lacking right now.
Let's say it borrows from rock, funk and latin, but in a jazzy way.
Jazz that reflects this playing?
Dave Holland, of course
Kenny Wheeler
Ambrose Akinmusire
Yaron Herman
Joshua Redman
Jaco Pastorius playing standards or w Pat Metheny
