Here is the thing: I had rebooted my Focusrite Saffire thingie numerous times - turned it off and then on again numerous times. Same with the computer into which the USB drive was attached. But I had never literally unplugged the connection of either the USB Harddrive or the Focusrite Saffire thingie... did you plug it back into the exact same USB port it had been in? Is there a possibility that it was in a USB 3.0 port one time and a USB 2.0 port the next? I ask because in my communication with Focusrite, they advised me against using a USB 3.0 port... (didn't say why though... just that results would vary more when using a 3.0 port) I did notice that I got different results depending on whether my Focusrite was plugged into a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port.
