I think it would be nice to be able to create a MIDI-based user track, that responds to chord changes much as RealTracks or audio UserTracks do, but generate MIDI based on MIDI patterns instead.

There are times I would like to, for example, capture the style of something I'm playing on piano, but don't want to create a whole "style" around it, or worry about weights and 1,2,4, or 8 bar patterns. Just be able to record my playing along with a chord progression to generate a single instrument track that can then be inserted into other songs with different chord progressions. The difference is that I could then assign any instrument I want (maybe change to an electric piano, for example). I suspect Super MIDI tracks may actually operate something like this, but it would be nice if we users could roll our own.

Just a thought.
