Band-in-a-Box 2010 Build 16 is available (May 4, 2010)
http://www.pgmusic.com/support_macintoshupdates.htm#2010_16

This patch will update Band-in-a-Box to version 2010 Build 16 from any previous 2010 build. You must have Band-in-a-Box 2010 for Macintosh installed for this update to work.

If you are updating an external PG Music hard drive, make sure to choose the correct destination volume (install on specific hard drive).

Summary of Changes for Build 16 (May 4, 2010)

Fixed: Crash with some RealTracks.

Summary of Changes for Build 15 (May 3, 2010)

Improved: Better RealTracks endings for complex chords like Cm9, C69, Cm11.
Improved: Chords like Cdim and C7sus can be used for endings (a held chord is played for them).
Fixed: Some RealTracks riffs were being transposed incorrectly.
Fixed: Soloist track not being loaded in certain cases if a melody was also present.
Added: RealTracks support for dominant 7th slash chords.
Fixed: Realtracks endings wouldn't play in certain cases if riff overlapped previous one.
Fixed: Jazz bass and piano weren't tempo swapping at fast tempos.

If you encounter a problem or have a concern with any of the features / functions of Band-in-a-Box, do not hesitate to contact us.

Silly question; you dont need to install the build 14 PLUS the build 16 - just build 16. Right?

Dear Peter -
I started working with BiaB with the old Mac version (was it BiaB 12?) some years ago.
Then I changed to PC Version and bought 2008 and then 2009. So - I am a little bit experienced.
When I saw, that you offer the version 2010 also for Mac, I bought it.
But I am a little bit disappointed.
There is a very different interface from the PC-Version on the first view I miss some features, have a lot of problems by setting codas and repeats (I do not know if these are the right English words) and, worst - I cannot find the Practice Window. No Button and not under the Topic Windows. Is there no more a Practice Window?
Thanks for Help
Wolfgang

And - the when I open the Lyrics Window - I type my text. But how can I come out of the Lyrics window?
And - where is the Lead Sheet Window?
And - why does every song always has 5 Choruses? No matter if I set 1 chorus, and save the song then. By opening new, it has 5 choruses again.
And - where is the ear training window?
What is this? Should I have staid at the windows version? Why did nobody telling before, that the Mac-Version is only a Beta (or Alpha) version?
An Answer would be nice.
Best
Wolfgang

Hello Wolfgang,

Sorry, I didn't see your post here earlier.

The PC and Mac versions don't have exactly the same set of features. You're right, the Mac version doesn't have the Practice window or ear training window, and the notation/lyrics features are less advanced. However, it is simpler to use than the PC version in many respects, for example with respect to audio rendering and driver setup.

To exit the lyrics window, press ESC. I am not sure why the song would default to 5 choruses. The default is 3 for new files. Perhaps you could send a song with this behavior to support @pgmusic.com

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
