I'm not sure of what you are trying to do with your MIDI files but if you go to the thread "still confused" and reread jford's post about setting up for MIDI playback in the Aria player, I think it will help. His explanation is clear and about as good as it gets.

I'd read the manual over and over first to really absorb it, then play around with loading the instruments into each slot.

The ensemble at the top are just convenient setups of different combinations of instruments that will load in a selection of instruments ready to go.

The individual slots can be loaded with a different instrument if you want. You can set up your instrumentation however you want it.

If some instruments aren't playing when you load in a MIDI file, check to see if the mod wheel is turned down. If it is you won't hear anything.

The Garritan forum will also be a good place to ask some questions. They know more than I do. I learn by reading manuals and experimenting. Trial and error till it sinks in for me.

You will love it when you get it all going. The old learning curve thing.

Good luck!

Dude, you've been posting here long enough now to know a question like this is useless.

What program are you talking about? This is the off topic forum so is it even a PG product? If it is Biab or RB, why isn't this in either or those forums? Are you trying to use Sonar, Reaper or what?

Are you working with a midi file or a Biab file? What kind of midi file? What kind of Biab file? All midi or is there some Real Tracks too?

The tutorial from Peter Gannon looks pretty good. Notice down toward the bottom he shows loading the sounds into the slots and shows the midi channel number that's already assigned to that slot. For example, slot number two is assigned midi channel 2, slot 3 -> channel 3 and so on. To load a bass, for example, you would click on slot two and choose a bass sound to load it into that slot. To see the midi channel assignment in biab, open 'preferences' (control and e) and look out toward the top right and click a button marked 'channels'. That will show you the midi channel assignment in biab, then you just match it in jabb. I hope this helps, but if it doesn't, post back your questions.

I am working on the tutorials and manual am making some progress will update if and when I think it is vital. As for Jazz mammal, this is off topic, Garritan is a third party product of PG, and if you notice there are a lot of threads for Garritan JABB. So I guess this is what "off topic" is for. I'm not trying to start a war of words but this is where this post belongs.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something. Are you playing Garritan stand alone with just a midi controller? You didn't specify that in your post. I assumed you were using Garritan as a plugin with either Biab or RB or another DAW. If it's Biab or RB then I would think this does belong in either of those forums although obviously that's not a real big deal, people post in the wrong forum all the time, it's just it does make it easier for you to find your answer.

You should provide a lot more detail and explanation when you post a question, the clearer you make it the easier it is for someone to figure out the problem.

for now I am just using JABB for stand alone to learn how it all works, when I can't get things to work right away I get frustrated and yell for help, I have little patience, always been that way. I am working through the Garritan system and am starting to understand how it works. JABB is in Biab and RB tanks to PG tech support but I am not doing anything in those programs until I think I can jump in and use it there.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
