I would like to see the traditional tumbao bass line used in salsa and mambo music. This line starts on 1, but only plays on the "and" of 2 and on 4 thereafter. The 4th beat usually plays the root of the chord in the next measure, while the "and" of 2 plays the 5th. Here is a link to an example of how it would look with Chick Corea's "Spain"
