It looks like most of the links are for plug-ins, not a DAW.

If someone is looking for a free, up-to-date DAW they may want to try +++ Tracktion 6 +++ Plenty of tutorials are available on YouTube.

Another interesting link is this +++ DAW Comparison Chart +++ In addition to having links to many DAWS the page lists what kind of plug-ins each uses and what operating system are supported.

Nothing except system stability (and I'm not referring to malware). Use free software at your own risk. Especially plugins.

I use plugins from Izotope and Melda all the time. Good stuff.

If you have no money to spend on a DAW, and don’t want to come to grips with RealBand, Traktion 6 is a fine choice.

Tracktion 6 is only free because it is now two versions old. I have been using Tracktion since version 1. There are no necessary warnings about using it other than it is somewhat unconventional. As for power and features, it often leads other DAWs in terms of capabilities. Version 6 has more features than you will know what to do with.

You are absolutely right about that, Matt, as I found with my
recent bout with video editor replacement.
Audio Visual is hot, a fact not lost on the sharks of the industry.
How many times did I bite my tongue and not ask the company
rep, "Are you guys interested in video editing or data mining?
Sadly, some of the greats. such as Adobe, laid the groundwork
for it with anti piracy measures.
