Is there a way to have only an eighth rest and an eighth note in the lead-in bar? Having a half-note rest and a quarter-note rest takes up space that crowds the notes in the first line.

I'm not at a BIAB computer, but would this work? Change that first bar to one beat, then treat bar 2 as the beginning of the song?
Hmmm, I thought that might be it Matt, but by setting bar 1 to 1 beat it plays the first beat of the bar (which is a rest), when the pickup note is actually in the 4th beat of the bar.
I also tried inserting a bar before bar 1 to push the pickup note into bar 1 rather than bar 0, but that didn't work either (actually made the score read worse).
In this case, the pickup note is of course prior to bar 1.

We probably need an option to delete certain beats of a bar while leaving remaining notes in their original positions, e.g. "delete beats 1-3 of bar 0"
I wonder if this is a wishlist item suggestion? (see before and after, below)
